Currently 37 weeks with DC2 (DC1 is 2).

First time round me and DH spent the final few weeks before the birth getting prepared - mentally & practically! ie. reading up on things, sorting out the nursery, buying essentials, etc etc.
However, with a lively 2 year old & a bit of a family emergency ongoing, I've realised we haven't really done anything and I'm starting to panic a little bit!!

So, those of you who have 2 little ones with a similar age gap, what did you do to prepare (or wish you had done)??

Thanks!

Have loads of places to put the baby so you can easily but it down. Especially a bouncer or nest in your DC bedroom so you can easily do stories and playing. Also somewhere to BF in DC bedroom (I just did it on eldest bed but your DC may still be in a cot?).

I've got a big rocking nursing chair which I find great as my younger DC pretends its a boat with me while I'm BFing and so doesn't get annoyed. We just rock and pretend to have telescopes and see sharks etc.

Batch cook and freezer meals partic for toddler.

Books about being an older sibling.

Friends with toddlers to hang out with so neither of you go stir crazy.

DVDs, we didn't have a TV but oh my god wish we had would have made life so much easier.

A dummy. I don't use one but interestingly all my friends did with their second.

A good bag so you also have room for toddler snacks.

Do you have a double buggy? We didn't and had a buggy board but had tines where toddler was having a melt down and wished I had a double so could just strap him in and leg it home.

A sling, ESSENTIAL

We have a nearly three year old and i am 35 weeks. So far I have:-
Set up the crib and storage area in our bedroom
Pulled out the carrycot for the pram and the carseat - cleaned and redone the straps in them
Packed my hospital bag (in the boot with notes as had threatened preterm labour last week)
Sorted childcare and speak to dd regularly about it so ot doesnt come as a shock
Moved a big toy storage unit out of the living room and into dds room to make room for the rocker/bouncer
Bought enough clothes to see us through the first 6 months (without being daft about it) so I dont need to think
Set up a section of the kitchen with steriliser, bottles, milk etc.
Bought and read loads of bedtimes stories about siblings and being a big sister / gettig a little brother.
Kept dd in two day per week childcare so it can continue after the birth

Things ive yet to do but would like to.....
Batch cook for the freezer
Do up the basket of nappies and wipes and vests for the living room - will probably do it tonight.
Get a sling - though im tempted.to wait til.baby is here so I can try some one

Oh yes lots of hanging stations (ie just boxes of nappies and wipes everywhere).
