Raspberry leaf capsules - not suitable for pregnant women??

I went to my local Holland and Barrett today to get these capsules, however, on the box it said "do not take if you are pregnant or breastfeeding".

I asked the assistant and she said it was new packaging and hadn't noticed that before. She also said they get regular updates regarding different herbal medicines and none had come through to say they were no longer suitable during pregnancy.

Anyone else come across this? Just wondering if, when they changed the packaging, they could have changed the ingredients too?

I think your only supposed to take them towards the end of pregnancy. Can't remember the exact dates though.

Is full term classed as 37 weeks? I think I read on another thread that someone had taken them from 32 weeks.

Mine say not to be taken before 30 weeks of pregnancy but I think generally the advise is 36/37 weeks as they are reported to bring on labour.

I would double check with your midwife.

They do not bring on labour.. They are to help tone for a shorter pushing stage that's all.

37 weeks is fine to take them.

I bought some from Holland &Barrett last week and they said not to be taken in the 1st and 2nd trimester?!

They help the cervix efface (shorten) and the uterine muscles contract well when you give birth, some women find they make Braxton hicks stronger. If you had undiagnosed issues with these earlier, I guess it would be a bad idea to take them hence the warning.
But after 35-6 weeks, nature does that stuff anyway!

They are an old wives' tale thing to bring on labour. They don't work, but also best not to take just in case 0.0001% the pagan gods are watching, iyswim.
