Did anyone spot the sex at 20 week scan?

Just that really. Didn't find out the sex but at two separate parts of the scan DH and I both thought we saw boy bits and then just to confuse matters girl bits when she did the femur measurement. Did anyone correctly guess from the scan?

Yes with DC3. The sonographer froze the screen to measure the femurs and the view was from underneath looking up at the baby's bottom with both it's legs spread eagled.

We definitely saw meat and 2 veg

It was very, very surprising when the baby was born and she was a girl

Not even a hint at my 17 week or 21 week scan, although we asked and were told boy. I had a private scan at 23 weeks and the sonographer showed us his bits which were very obvious. And he is definitely a boy :)

Yes to both boys at 20 week scan.

Ha! What a surprise that must have been, hopefully you didn't buy too much blue. I really thought I saw boys bits but then the sonographer zoomed in and said it was cord so maybe that is what you saw?!

Jeeze I could barely make out limbs at mine! Think I must need my eyes tested...

I was told the sex of my DD at the 12 week scan!! Don't know quite how the sonographer could see anything; I definitely couldn't see anything myself...(then or at any subsequent scan!)

I'm always impressed when people guess right from their scans. I wonder how easy it is for the sonographer to hide the goods if you don't want to know?

No I couldn't either decaff although I was nodding away convincingly as she pointed stuff out...

I definitely saw a slit at my 20wk scan and DD is most definitely a girl. I said to the sonographer "It's a girl isn't it" and she confirmed it was. A few years later my friend sent a grainy scan photo to my phone and asked to see if anyone could tell what she was having and I could see faintly the tell tale slit and again it was a girl.

I suspected ours was a girl at 20 weeks. At a later growth scan we asked to find out, the sonographer had to move the scope a long way around from what I thought was a girly view to see very clear boy bits! The angle is all important and if you say you don't want to find out they are good at hiding it.

Ah right, so seeing nothing between the legs doesn't mean anything and it's still 50/50. Looking forward to next year to find out then...

I could ..Ds was there legs wide open. Showing all his bits and bobs off...and every scan after. He was very proud

Sonographer had just started the scan when my dh burst out laughing saying "correct me if I'm wrong, but that's a boy isn't it" sonographer smiled and said "no mistaking the sex on this one":)

I thought you couldn't tell the gender at the 12 week scan as all genitals (male & female) are still on the outside at that point?

That is what I was told at my 12-week scan yesterday. I hope that is the case as I thought I saw boy bits and we don't want to know what we are having!

I've got three boys first baby didn't notice anything . Second baby he was measuring legs and he froze the scan and when he set it going again baby opened his legs and exposed his bits . ( looked just like a teat on a bottle ) . Third baby he exposed himself and we both saw boy

Our boy's bits were very obvious at 20 weeks.

Yes literally glanced at it and ds bits were on full show for all to see just as well we had wanted to know as you couldn't miss them

Yeah my baby is definitely a boy(33 week's pregnant currently) as the sonogragher said hes a very (big)boy and he was showing us all his jewels lol

When I had dd they didn't tell you the sex. We had a scan to check for something in particular and ex was adamant there was no willie there. He even bought her a pink teddy before she was born he was so convinced and obviously correct.
With ds1 I couldn't see until it was pointed out. With ds2 the sonographer was putting the gel on my bump chatting away about what I thought I was having put the scanner on my stomach I looked at the screen and said ooh look it's a boy. He was right there showing us all.

Seems like more people managed to correctly guess than not. Kind of wish I had found out now as I'm driving myself mad trying to analyse everything I did or didn't see in the scan.

I think it can be quite confusing, especially if you just get a quick glimpse. You might see cord and mistake it for willy, it might be the angle making it look like a bit of femur is boy parts etc... I don't think they can tell you accurately at your 12 week scan; baby still just has a nub at that point, surely?!
