Anyone got any tips for coping with a toddler when you are in late pregnancy and soooo tired you feel like you could fall asleep on your feet?

Oh i am dreading the immediately after roadkill fanjo and having to run shallow baths to pee in. Oh and the sore nipples too. My ds sucked me a nice little blister on one of my nips in the first few days.

Let's hope for quicker and easier! I just need gas and air in my hand as soon as i get through the hospital doors and i'll be fine!! It might just be a little wobble.. i hadn't really been worrying prior to this week.

weebairn · 20/09/2014 21:32

My wobble came just after I finished work- I think I was concentrating so hard on not keeling over before then- then I sat down for a day and thought oh shit: LABOUR!

But I feel better about it all now.

MsSampson · 20/09/2014 22:01

Quicker and easier both during and after I'm sure! I reckon a lot of the horror the first time is the weird visceral shock, this time around we've been ground down by two years of looking a small person, and my expectations of physical comfort are a bit lower anyway (trying to look on the bright side?).

ithoughtofitfirst · 21/09/2014 04:51

Oh good weebairn i hope it is just a passing phase. I've been up since silly o clock with THE FEAR.

My expectations of physical comfort are definitely lower. Particularly rest and sleep. With my last labour i couldn't wait for it to be over so that i "could sleep"... still makes me chuckle Grin

Errrr2012 · 21/09/2014 11:35

Ha! The nativity of a first timer eh!! I may as well be first timer as far as labour is concerned cause previous birth was EMCS at 31 weeks, no experience of normal labour at all. But at least I know about newborn sleep deprivation!!

parallax80 · 21/09/2014 14:19

Yep, terrified here too. Have a section booked for sometime abt 38 wks but asked not to know exact date until as late as poss as so scared. Having said that, am also a bit fed up of wetting myself whenever I cough, and having no comfortable positions to be in... None of the people I know in RL have gone as far as this w twins (36+4) and in lots of ways I know it's good, but my goodness my body is trashed! (Can hear toddler & DH trashing the kitchen but studiously ignoring...)

weebairn · 21/09/2014 14:50

I'm getting fed up and impatient now. Every night I have lots of good going regular period-y pains, but by the morning they're gone. This has been going on about a week now.

DD was 40+5 and I am only 38+5 so I KNOW I shouldn't expect anything to my due date at the EARLIEST but it's so hard when you're so hopeful and don't want to get any bloody bigger or slower. I feel ok about labour right now but I bet i'll have another wobble if this goes on for several more weeks.

I also get very cross with people who have early babies… which is not entirely fair...

Oh well. Keep going keep going. Had a good "nesting" day at least, me and DP gutted the house and did lots of scrubbing.

weebairn · 21/09/2014 14:57

Oh and I have invited 12 kids and their parents to DD's birthday party on the 28th which is 2 days before my due date. I have made DP make loads of party bags and sort out party games etc. SURELY this will make me go inconveniently into labour Grin

parallax80 · 21/09/2014 15:03

Maybe we should all come to the party?!

weebairn · 21/09/2014 15:12
Grin
ithoughtofitfirst · 21/09/2014 15:19

Yeah really fed up here too despite shnizzing oneself about labour. Baby measuring massive on scans, fundal height is massive, head engaged, period pains all the fecking time and so much pressure down there it feels like the bag of waters will just POP. Still only 37 weeks though Sad

Trying to keep busy though like you guys.

weebairn · 21/09/2014 15:37

My belly button is sorta half popped now. This didn't happen last time so I am GRUMPY. "Obviously" it means i have put on more weight than last time and will take 17 years to lose it. If I go overdue I'll probably put even MORE weight on even though I am eating like a rabbit and feel sick most of the time.

Grump grump grump.

No stretch marks yet...

weebairn · 21/09/2014 15:38

Oh yeah and everyone is telling me this bump is bigger than the last one. WHATEVER.

ithoughtofitfirst · 21/09/2014 15:44

Not long now weebairn ...about the same as the TWW for you! Which is NAAFINK when you think about it. I don't think women go as overdue the second time. That's what i'm telling myself cause i went 12 days over last time haha!

MsSampson · 22/09/2014 07:33

Ha, my DH told me yesterday I have "topped out" bigger than last time as though I'm a fecking skyscraper! And my belly button popped last week which I am a bit revolted by...

40+1 today, off to the MW, was going to decline a sweep (did nothing last time), but figure I might as well go for it? Had a curry last night which did nothing but give me heartburn.

weebairn · 22/09/2014 08:12

Feel better this morning after a miracle sleep - ok just between 1am and 6am really but that's the first time I haven't seen 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 on the clock overnight recently!

DD also slept the ENTIRE night which is not typical, she normally wakes once. DP deals with it so I shouldn't complain, but it still wakes me up/stresses me out. But this morning woke up still in her cot at 6.45am!!! Brilliant!! I smothered her with kisses and told her she was a "big girl" (this is her favourite compliment right now). She then threw a fit at me because she wanted more than one egg for breakfast, ah well you can't win them all Wink

Well my toddler coping strategy for this week is to NEVER BE ALONE. So I have my mum round this morning, a friend this afternoon, another friend for tuesday, nursery (thank god) wednesday and thursday and er… haven't planned friday yet, but god it would good to have had baby by friday…

Then weekend will be crazy with DD's birthday party and THEN it is my due date so the real sulking will start Wink

39 weeks tomorrow.

Errrr2012 · 22/09/2014 09:36

That's a good tip if you can manage it weebairn mine is always better behaved when we are with other people. Unfortunately we have no family round here and lots of my toddler friends work now so getting company in the day is becoming harder. On a good note he's been in miraculously good form this morning, I have even got him to the childminders on time with barely a sniff of a tantrum. Feels like a long time since that happened.

MsSampson · 22/09/2014 13:23

A good night's sleep always makes such a difference! Although now if DD sleeps past 7 (this has happened about 5 times, ever) I start to panic... Also, like the never be alone strategy. There are times where I just can't be arsed to leave the house or do things, but it is always way harder than just going out somewhere (mind you, we met friends at the science museum a few weeks back, last day of school holidays, Worst Decision Ever). Busy but within 20 minutes of home is perfect...
Had my sweep this morning, and apparently am 2cm and soft. Midwife was most complimentary about my "favourable vaginal conditions" which is always nice to hear (do you thank someone when they compliment you on your cervix? It's an etiquette minefield....) So, maybe not too much longer?

ithoughtofitfirst · 22/09/2014 13:34

Lmao!! I think i would go with "oh cool!" Sounds like you're cracking on though which is good.

I know what you mean dh practically gave me a telling off this morning for contemplating bailing on baby group. He helped me get ds ready and bundled me into the shower feeling rather sorry for myself. Made it there, then went to Asda for some baby vests on the way back (could only find 2 out of ds's old things) and got home for a rather late lunch and nap. House is an absolute tip and there was a fruit fly in my kitchen buzzing round the dishes. LUSH.

MsSampson · 22/09/2014 14:25

Funny you should say about house being a tip, ours too, and I just started thinking that the in laws will probably be round soon to look after DD1, so maybe I should tidy a bit? At least chuck out some of the mouldy food in tupperwares in the fridge?
This afternoon's planned outing is library. Starting to feel a bit crampy, maybe the walk will keep things moving in the right direction.

ithoughtofitfirst · 22/09/2014 14:38

Yyyeeeee c'mon baby sampson. Grin

I've just started burning some essential oils. So the flies are nice and Zen.

parallax80 · 22/09/2014 16:11

Fingers crossed MsS!

GP today has given me antibiotics, inhalers and other cough stuff and I feel maybe 5% better. . To be fair to the fetuses, they probably would be harder work out than in at this point!

MsSampson · 22/09/2014 17:36

Yeah, I think I jinxed it. Cramps for about an hour, but nothing now. Still, gives me more time to tidy up I guess!

Good to hear you've got some medication parallax, hope it kicks in soon...

ithoughtofitfirst · 24/09/2014 08:21

Any news anyone?

Had a scan yesterday and everything looked within normal range growth wise so no big baby fear any more! They must have just been having a bloated day last time lol. Got another one in a few weeks but hopefully will have delivered by then. She says... holding no hope Grin

weebairn · 24/09/2014 08:24

No news here. Grumpy Grin

I did some trampolining with toddler in the park yesterday which I think was quite impressive Grin

39+1
