Cyclizine for Morning Sickness

Hi there I've been off work all week with terrible nausea (no sickness) and just feeling generally unwell and unfit to get up and work. Went back to the doctors yesterday and she prescribed me Cyclizine three times a day. I took one and within 30mins I felt really zoned out and drowsy. Granted it did ease the sickness but then I don't think id be able to work whilst on it. Aagggghhh. Has anybody else been in a similar situation? Feeling so guilty about work but just know I'm not fit to be there. If I'm no better by Monday I'm going to have to tell them (7weeks) xx

Cyclizine made me totally spaced out - I couldn't function on it at all.

Go back to your GP . There are other medications you can try but be aware that most anti-emetics are basically sedatives so they will all make you feel drowsy to some extent . Some people just have a lower tolerance to them .

Stemetil is usually the next drug they will offer and it works for a lot of people . If you find that that one doesn't work for any reason keep going back to your doctor .

I ended up getting Ondansatron (zofran) but only after I was hospitalised . It is important to get pregnancy sickness under control as quickly as you can because once it starts to spiral it is much harder to deal with so do not feel bad if you need to keep going to your doctor.

Eating little and often is the only other thing i can recommend - very sweet and salty things were best for me - not very healthy but far better than not eating at all and being hungry makes the sickness and nausea worse.

HTH and it passes soon.

There are other things you can try, so do ask. I took cyclizine but although it stopped me vomiting, it didn't stop the nausea and the exhaustion was awful.
