Breech at 34 weeks - should I worry?

Hello all

I'm 34 weeks tomorrow. At my 31 week GP appointment she palpated my stomach and said she thought she was breech. I had a 32 week scan ( to check placenta had moved away from cervix) and the sonographer confirmed that she is bottom-down.

I know NICE guidelines state that they shouldn't palpate for the baby's presentation until 36 weeks, presumably because there's still time for them to turn.

But I am worried about it. I know you don't often get the birth you'd planned but I'd really like to be at the local midwife led unit, 5 mins from my house and not having intervention or CS elsewhere.

I have midwife tomorrow so hopefully she will put my mind at rest.

Am I worrying unnecessarily? Still time to turn?

I'm exactly the same, I'm told by both midwife and consultant that she still has time to turn, so hopefully she will!

Have a look at spinningbabies.com/baby-positions/breech-bottoms-up/what-to-do-about-breech for positions that are meant to encourage the baby to turn. I've been doing them for a week and it seems like she has moved although I'm not sure she's head down yet. I'm being seen tomorrow (34+2) to check.

Thanks Ruby

I have been trying these too! I think s/he has shifted slightly but to be honest I can't tell the difference between a bottom and a head!

Anyone out there had a baby turn after 34 weeks?

Not breech but transverse lie.
Ds1 was transverse at every appointment after 32 weeks. At 36 weeks and something I had a horribly uncomfortable day of much pushing and shoving an extremely odd shaped bump for a while and at the midwife the next day a head down baby that came out at 37 weeks. He was tooty and I was enormous. He was clearly extremely comfortable where he was side ways but have in and turned round when he felt like coming out.
