I am just under 8 weeks pregnant... Due to get my hair highlighted today but all of a sudden feeling unsure. Should I switch to a cut and blow dry till after 12 weeks??? Help!

I'm no expert, and obviously nothing is proven either way, but I would think you will be fine. Hairdressers work through all their treatments whilst pregnant, so even though it's not going onto their heads will be more open to the fumes and chemicals throughout their day to day work than you will be in one sitting. Especially with highlights you won't be having a lot if any dye penetrating the scalp.

My hair has never been better since being pregnant so I decided to go blonde, did it myself in a very open room.

Hello,

Here is a patient information leaflet that summarises all of the available scientific information about hair dye use in pregnancy. Hope that it's helpful

I asked my hairdresser this and she said with highlights you are fine as nothing actually touches the scalp (presuming you have foil highlights)

As long as you have never had an adverse reaction in the past I think you will be fine.

I checked with my hairdresser at about the same time and she said the products are now a lot less chemical based than they used to be.

She did advise it might not work as well/the same due to hormonal changes affecting the hair but I have had mine done twice during and not had a single issue.

I think you will be fine I've highlighted my hair with both from the start the only issue I have is my roots don't take as well apparently to do with hormones xx

Yep, main danger is your scalp getting itchy, not to baby! :)

Hi at 13 weeks I have just had my roots done, dramatic as this might sound I was literally crying I looked so bad. At my 12 week scan I started crying, mainly because my side effect is crying constantly, and midwife confirmed to go get my hair done. It was like a dark cloud lifted and I swished out of the salon happy as Larry. To confirm I asked 3 midwifed and all said get your hair done lol

Thanks girls I got it done :) and feeling better. Hairdresser said the only problem might be the colour may not be the same but it was fine :) everything feels like a worry at this stage...
