Maternity Coat

When should I buy one? (I'm 21 weeks at the moment and def. showing). It's pretty cold at the train station in the mornings at the moment, and I've looked around and there doesn't seem a massive amount of choice (don't want to spend more than £60-70).

I don't know if in a couple of weeks there's going to be a sudden rush of new season maternity clothes, so I should just hold fire and wait, or whether to just buy something (probably this www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+maternity-swing-coat-in-maternity-coats-and-jackets+b4400) Now.

Any ideas anyone?

I've not seen a single coat that I liked - i wanted something waterproof and with a hood but not too heavy as I'm getting quite hot as I get bigger.

I ended up getting lucky and buying a size L jacket from TK Maxx (I'm usually a S to M) - it's got poppers that allow you to tighten or extend it at the waist and only cost 35. Once it gets to the stage where I can no longer zip it up then I'll just be leaving it open and letting my bump air!!

I got one for £40 from New Look, grey hooded thing. Good for casual and just about passable for work.

I didn't buy a maternity coat with DD who was born in March. Just maternity woollen tops and dresses and my normal coats.

I would just wear a large cardigan than can be wrapped around stomach, regular coat open and scarf down front.

My regular coat had belt so couldn't do up buttons but could do up on last belt notch so at least stayed half closed ( and used like that with baby in sling)

I actually got one on ebay, purely because new look/asda etc didn't have any in and I didn't want to spend a fortune and I commute and not due until Feb so would definitely need one. I can't believe shops (even mothercare!) weren't stocking them yet.

Got a bargain for £7.50 Smile

I've been having a coat dilemma too, think I'm going to size up in normal coats, and probably just wear it open with a big scarf in the depths of winter. That way I can still wear it afterwards, or get it taken in if I really need to.

I only really needed a light coat, even when I was pregnant over the winter, but my pal (who is a skinny minnie) had a lovely wool blend coat from Dotty P and really needed it to keep her warm. I bought a nice winter coat this time from eBay, but have worn it literally once. Baby is due in two weeks. Suspect I'll be sticking it back on eBay!

I would find something you like the look of and see if you can find it cheaper on eBay. I think my new look mac was only 25 and it has been worn in two pregnancies so has been worth it, but if I'd bought the lovely wool coat new, I'd be gutted!
