Pain in lower bump

So I'm 35 weeks exactly.

Over the last two days I've been increasingly 'achy'. Especially at night and when I wake up I'm really stiff and waddly for the first half an hour or so.

Tonight it's gotten worse. The bottom of my bump feels heavy and is sore. A bit like period pain but not as intense. I haven't felt the need to take painkillers yet. If I sit down it generally subsides. My back also hurts, both at the top and at the bottom!

I don't think it's contractions as my bump isn't going hard and it's not coming in 'waves'.

Is this just baby getting into position and stretching about, or is it the start of labour?!

I've not had a show or anything yet, no other real signs & baby is moving quite furiously!

If this is your first and you've never experienced it before this could be your baby 'dropping' which definitely increases the pressure on the lower parts.
IME It doesn't happen all at once so you could feel some discomfort or pressure over a few days as it happens but once you have dropped a fair amount you will start to feel the 'waddling' feeling and lose the pressure on your ribs and it will also look obvious as your bump will look a different shape.

I'm 40+3 and had that feeling since about 35 weeks. The midwife said it was likely everything stretching and perhaps mild spd. It hasn't got aby better for me, worse if I have an active day.

Try to keep your legs together when getting in/out of bed, the car etc.

Thanks ladies - all reassuring. Really want the little one to hold on a bit. Not mentally prepared for his arrival yet!

Legs firmly shut, am having a super restful day to see if that helps :-)
