Where does baby sleep in day?

Do you just use the cot for nap times, or have you brought something else? My mom suggested a Moses basket, are there any other recommended options? Not opposed to Moses basket at all, I just don't know what the "done" thing is?!

TIA X

Moses basket for downstairs so if I decide I want to go upstairs to clean or have a nap myself I can just carry him up

In cot if at all possible.

Mine slept in the pram or on me when very small when they slept downstairs during the day
I liked them being in the pram as I could use it to get them to sleep in it by pushing it round the house or just backwards and forwards

Moses basket/cot if we're at home, or pushchair/car seat downstairs if we've been out. Neither of mine have been Velcro babies thankfully.

Pram outside from about 4-6 weeks. Moses basket downstairs up until then.

Moses basket seems firm favourite then, I will add to ever growing shopping list Hmm

Moses baskets and slings when small. When bit older and grumpier I put them in vibrating chairs/mechanical swings which is not really recommended but I had a colicky screamer so tried everything and anything.

My 5 week old sleeps mostly on me, as soon as she's put in the Moses basket she wakes up! She'll also sleep happily in a sling, or in the pram or car if we are out.

Would love my baby to sleep on me all the time, but won't be feasible when I'm meant to be working hahaha

I've bought a Moses basket for the living room (we have a crib that attaches to our bed for our bedroom, going to buy cot bed when baby is bigger). My plan (fully aware this could change) is that some naps will be in the Moses basket and some in the sling.

In their cot from day one.

I have a snuzpod bedside crib. The crib bit detaches so you can have it anywhere in the house. Very handy and one of the reasons why I bought one.

Baby hasn't arrived yet so I'm hoping he'll like sleeping in there!

ACM88 · 09/09/2014 22:43

clarabum I assumed that's what I would do, but people had said to me that it's best to have somewhere else to sleep during day to differentiate from night time sleep. Did you find cot worked well for all sleeps? I definitely want a good routine established as soon as possible because I won't have much time off before I have all my minded children around.

Personally I don't think it's especially important to have somewhere different for night vs naps.

What I would say though is - you don't know what kind of baby you're going to get. You might get lucky and get a chilled out baby who will nap anywhere as soon as they are tired. or you might get a Velcro baby who refuses to be put down and only naps on you or in sling. or your baby might be a sleep fighter who needs motion to nap. or they might have some reflux and only nap semi upright. So... don't plan too rigidly where the baby will nap ... they may have other ideas! Appreciate that is tricky with your work...

It's not recommended baby sleeps in a different room from you under 6 months due to SIDS, hence most have cot in parents room for at night and somewhere downstairs in day

I have a Tiny Love three in one napper - its a lie flat bassinet type thing that also sits up, and rocks, and vibrates, amd has a mobile attached and plays music.

Baby is still yet to be born so ive no idea if he will like it but it makes a good attempt at offering sleep and play in one for the daytime.
