Does this sound like iron deficiency?

I've tried searching the MN archives but I just keep finding biscuits!

I had a D&V bug last week and ended up in hospital for a few hours being rehydrated. And although the bug has gone, I'm still not feeling quite right. I can't really describe it any more than that. I am really tired, wiped out tired. And cold a lot of the time. And if I'm really honest, I've been feeling like this for a few weeks.

I've suddenly wondered if maybe I'm low on iron. I haven't been eating as much meat as I would normally as I don't really fancy it at the moment. They took blood when I was in hospital last week, and said it was fine, but I don't know if they tested my iron.

I'm going to make an appointment with my GP/nurse and ask for my iron to be checked, but has anyone had similar symptoms and been iron deficient?

Oh, should add that I'm about 15 and a half weeks. Thanks.

Could be, but it could just be pregnancy tiredness? Are you taking a multivitamin as I found that helped a lot. Also make sure you're drinking enough.

I always felt really tired more than what I had been and really dizzy. A few days after taking them I felt good again they work fast.

I've had anaemia since early teens and it got worse in pregnancy so took extra iron. In addition to the tiredness one of the symptoms I feel when it gets bad is almost like my arms are filled with lead. A bit odd but best way for me to explain it. Find myself yawning a lot and get very breathless -it's body trying to get more oxygen it cells by breathing although the blood isn't able to carry it! When it gets really bad the edges of my vision go dark with sparkly bits -like falling stars.

Could be. I'm tired at the moment, but iron deficiency/anemia tired is different. Like you say, completely wiped out (zonkoed). Get it tested but in the meantime but some spatone (it's 3 for 2 in boots) and safe in pregnancy.

I was anaemic and prescribed four tablets a day. I knew they were working when I stopped craving non food items. Previously I had been craving rubber and trying to eat it. It's gone now. Do you have any weird non food cravings?
