Should I have the scan they offered me?

Okay, so after sex I went to the loo and when I wiped there was a really tiny spot of blood. Have now worried myself silly (following a mmc in March) went to a Doctor and he asked if I would like an early scan. Because I am only going to be about 6 weeks 1 day I'm not sure I will be reassured by a scan. Has anyone had a scan at this point?

I had one at 6 +5 and it did reassure me after 2 previous miscarriages - I'd go for it :)

Did you see a heartbeat? I'm worried 6+1 will be too early?

It's probably just a scratch from having sex, but I would go for a scan if you've been offered it for the reassurance. Could you not go a week later - by 7 weeks you should see a heartbeat which is a really good sign that all will be ok.

Our posts just crossed! I had a scan at 6w and saw a heartbeat. But I had IVF so was sure of the dates. If there is any chance your dates are a bit off you might not see one which will of course be a bigger worry.

Bear in mind a scan at this point will probably be using the dildocam and can be a bit uncomfortable.

Chances are that you may not see a heartbeat at 6&1, but if it is too early they will rebook you for two weeks time. Fwiw, I had a gyne-related scan at 5 weeks, there was only a sac, repeated at 6&5 by EPU, when we saw a heartbeat. No dildocam needed for the latter.

Think I will go next Friday when I will be 6+4 and pray that there will be heartbeat!

I had a scan at what I thought was 6+4 and they put me at 5 weeks, could only see sack, I was then re scanned 10 days later and was put at 6+5 and saw a clear heart beat. I think it varies a little, usually visible by 7 weeks, sometimes but not always slightly earlier.

Yes I had a scan at 6 weeks as a recurrent miscarrier and saw a hb. :) At the very least it will make you secure that it's probably just post-sex spotting and nothing wrong in the womb!

I had a scan at 5+6 and did not see a hb. She's now nearly 3. All my other early scans were a bit later (end of 6 weeks to 7 weeks) and hb always present then unless I had a mmc.

I saw a hb at 6+1 hope all is well x
