Evening all, am 16+6 with twins and have first consultant appointment on Wednesday. What should I expect? I don't think they'll scan me as have a scan booked in for 25th Sept. Will it just be blood tests/ blood pressure and a chat? Any experiences gratefully received! Ta

Is your consultant appointment because of your twins? When I had mine it was for medical reasons, so I just had the usual bloods and BP taken, then just had a nice chat! I was nervous about it, but it was very routine and fine. No experience of twins, though, if that's the reason! Good luck

Yeah, under a consultant because it's twins. First meeting eek!

At my first consultant appt she took blood pressure, tested urine, listened for both heartbeats, apparently she found my heartbeat and both babies all within 20 seconds at 16 weeks Hmm then basically pushed me out the door saying to come back in 4 weeks.

I have had 4 consultant appointments and each time it has been someone different, only one of them has actually spoken to me a bit about how the hospital deal with twins.

Hopefully you will have a better experience. If you can think of any questions it might be a good idea to write them down to remind you to ask the consultant at your appointment.

I am not expecting Twins, But at mine, Midwife checked urine and BP. All fine, and consultant asked me questions, listened to the heartbeat - booked me in for growth scans, booked me in to me the person with the drugs at the hospital I will give birth in, and that was about it!!!

My 16 week twin apptmnt was just a chat through risks (gest. diabetes, growth restriction, pre-eclampsia) with the consultant and a chance to ask any questions. No midwife bp / urine tests. It lasted about 20 minutes. He also put me on 75mg aspirin a day.
