Foetal heartrate and gender

Midwife has just intimated that she thinks I'm carrying a boy this time (we haven't found out the baby's sex so far), based on the foetal heartrate and also the fact that I'm quite a bit bigger this time around. I know that this one can really be filed under 'old wives' tales', but is anyone else getting similar predictions based on the heartrate?

So far my pregnancy has been very similar to DC1 (girl) except that I'm a bit rattier and bigger :)

Saw my midwife the other day and she listened to the heartrate and looked up and asked 'girl?', we've opted not to find out though. Heartrate was 157bpm according to my notes.

From what I've read, any difference between male and female heartrates is only obvious once you're actually in labour (and even then, it's probably not an exact science). My gut feeling has been girl throughout though...only 14 weeks to go until we find out.

The difference isn't clear until labour.

I carry high with a "boy" hb and the Chinese calculator says boy.
5 scans (medical buy I asked to check) since 18 weeks say girl!

Can't remember the figures but the heart rate indicated 'boy' in my first pregnancy, and 'girl' in my second. Right both times!

One in two chance through! Grin]

I had sort of felt that I'm having another girl, actually! Google has led me to another OWT that says boys' heartbeats sound like a train, and girls' like galloping hooves. Now I definitely remember the galloping hooves sound from my last pregnancy, but hadn't really noticed it on this one.

Oh well, we'll see in 9 weeks or thereabouts :)

My MW for my 3rd DC was right when she guessed "boy?" from the heartbeat.

I know it's not an exact science, but I should expect that listening to so many heartbeats, she would get a feel for it, in the same way an antique dealer just "knows" a piece is genuine or not, form having seen so many genuine pieces and fakes.

I was hooked up to monitor in hospital a few days ago. I am carrying twins, one boy and one girl. There heart rates were both around 140.
