Bfp - when to see dr?

Hi, delighted to see a bfp on my hpts this week, but wondering when I should book in to see the doctor?
I've go fan appointment tomorrow am ( got a cancellation) but now thinking this might be too early? I'm only 3 weeks 3 days pregnant and haven't yet missed my period.
I've tested twice with first response and once with clear blue - all bfp's. Cheaper tesco tests not showing yet.
I'm worried about going to GP and them telling me to come back in a few weeks!

Depending on what happens in your area, you may not need to see a GP at all, my practice just gave me an appointment for the midwife for 8 weeks. In fact the conversation with the receptionist went like something like this:

Me - can I make an appointment to see Dr K
Her - What's the problem
Me - I'm pregnant *thinking this is not a problem, we've been trying for a long time...
Her - Do you want a termination?

No I did not! I appreciate not everyone will want to continue with a pregnancy, but I had been waiting for that moment for a very long time and I'm sure she could have phrased it better! Having said that, my midwife has been fab.

Maybe ring your GP practice and say you're pregnant and who should you see when. I doubt you'll need to see anyone this early but I can understand you wanting to make it official, I did too!

Congratulations! You probably won't need to see a GP at all - just phone up and ask for a midwife appointment and ask when they do the booking in appointment. This is the long first one where you do all the paperwork. I think they did mine at about 8-9 weeks but do check!

If you are in England that is, it may be different if you're in another country.

I didn't even contact my GP, just self referred direct to the midwives at my local hospital.

I didn't see a GP, self referred to mw so I'd ring and ask rather than have a wasted trip!!

I didn't see the GP either. Just rang and said why and was referred to a m/w. They are super busy in my area and I didn't actually see her until I was 15 weeks, although spoke to her on the phone and had the scan etc. But I think the usual is 8 - 10 weeks for booking in.

Thanks for your replies everyone, I'm in Scotland so I'm not sure if it's different or not. I think I will keep my appointment tomorrow am and see what doc says - if it's a wasted trip well that's okay, I will take along a morning urine sample and a positive stick to prove my bfp. If the appointment had been later in day I would've phoned up to check if I need to attend but I don't want to miss it and then can't get in for another fortnight.
Another question I had was about telling people! When did you tell your close family? I'm really close with my parents and siblings and (totally jumping the gun) can't wait to tell then but I know a lot of people tend to wait until 12 weeks to disclose which I completely understand.
