Just found out I'm pregnant, petrified as it's early days and my last pregnancy was ectopic.

Hi all, just looking for somewhere to 'confide' I've literally this morning just had a positive clearblue digital test.
I last had a positive result in November 2013 but on December 5th I was rushed to theatre to remove my ectopic pregnancy, my left tube ruptured and was removed. I am overjoyed that I'm pregnant again but I am truly petrified. I have phoned both the dr and the epu this morning but had to leave messages on answer phones. I think the norm for pregnancy after an ectopic means an earlier scan to ensure the pregnancy is in the right place. I just need somewhere to confide until it's confirmed one way or the other or I'm going to go nuts!!
Anyone else been in this situation before, was it good or bad news for you? So scared it's going to be history repeating itself......
Thanks all x

Oh gosh I know the fear (had a partial molar last year with all tests for cancer etc' - pregnant this year 38 weeks!). So scary.

Yes, I would think they would book you in for an early scan. They can usually see a tiny dot (probably no HB yet but will confirm it is in the right place) at about 5 weeks, then at 7 o 8 one where they can see a heartbeat.

Even given that you had an ectopic, remember most women's next pregnancy turns out normal and healthy. :)

Thanks hon. EPU just phoned, got a scan 3 weeks today....think the next 3 weeks will be the longest of my life! I'm going to be stupidly diagnosing every little symptom!!
Congrats on your healthy pregnancy! Fingers crossed I'm gonna have the same this time around!!!
Nervous as hell.... X

Hi, same thing happened to me, ectopic in November 2013 (left tube rupture and was removed) then fell pregnant again in January 2014!

Be aware that they might not be able to see very much at your first scan - the scan is there to rule out another ectopic but they might not be able to see much of the baby or amniotic sac. This happened to me - I was scanned at 5 weeks 5 days, couldn't see anything and got really worried that I'd miscarried. They scanned me again at 7 weeks and I was able to see a little heartbeat flickering away! Nearly 33 weeks now, and all is well. Fingers crossed for a good outcome for you too!

My first pregnancy was ectopic and my left tube was removed. I now have a DD 3.5 years old, and I'm a week overdue with my second. I had early scans with both pregnancies at around 6-7 weeks (first was an internal scan, second normal external ultrasound) and then went on to have very normal, straight forward pregnancies.

Fingers crossed everything goes well for you this time.

Thank you, the next 3 weeks are gonna drag for sure! I won't even begin to relax until I know he/she is in the right place! I won't relax full stop but you know what I mean ;)
