popping sound?

I've just heard a popping sound! It seemed to come from just below my bump/above groin and was accompanied by momentary mad kicking from DC2. I'm only wearing stretchy maternity trousers so no zip/buttons that could have made the popping noise. Could this have been my waters breaking? I don't want to get my hopes up but I'm not sure what on earth it could have been? I'm 38+4 btw.

I had a popping feeling when my waters broke, but I'm not sure if it made a sound. Any water leaking out?

DizzyKipper · 29/08/2014 21:38

No nothing leaking, I've put a pad on in case. With my first I had what felt like a small explosion inside and was in labour 8 hours later, but like you no sound - this was a very loud, quite distinctive pop! Googling like mad and now thinking that maybe it's just one of those things, really must try not to get too excited (which I know I will) or else I'll be up all night (which I probably will now!).

When 34 weeks pregnant with dt,
I bend down to pick something up from the floor. I heard a loud pop and then followed by a gush of water. Never found anyone else that had a pop but I definitely did.

I popped loudly when I was being induced, nothing happened until I moved and then waters went everywhere. Very annoyingly I was alone so no one else heard it! Good luck!!

Innermagic · 29/08/2014 21:48

I had popping sounds can't remember what stage but I googled it at the time and there were lots of other woman saying the same thing.

Newmom2b · 29/08/2014 21:49

I heard a pop when my waters went, followed by a gush. Good luck x

Thanks all. Right now just madly trying to tidy up the house a little just in case and we have the midwives out - if it is the beginning of labour it's typical it would start on the one night I decided I'd leave the housework 'til the morning! Will also try not to get too excited and get a good night's sleep in case it's nothing.

I woke up in the middle of the night before DD was born and got up and heard a pop. No gush, no apparent waters but at sweep later that day was told my waters had gone! V weird. All the best :-)!

I had popping for a couple of weeks before I had dd she was born at 37+5 though so not saying you will go another couple of weeks! The noise was always when she moved it sounded more like a little crack really, when I got to hospital and was scanned (breech, emcs etc) they said my hind waters had been trickling as there was hardly any fluid. I think that noise is the sac maybe starting to break open good luck hope it's the start for you!

When my mum's waters broke with me, she and my dad heard a pop!

MrsPatMustard · 31/08/2014 08:27

I had a popping, followed by a massive gush. If you're not leaking fluid then possibly not....

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 31/08/2014 10:54

I had an audible pop and a gush too! Was quite exciting!

I read this yesterday and thought ooh how funny. Then later on was bending over to reach something on the floor (not the easiest of tasks) and heard a popping sound. Mine was at the top of bump though so thought I must have squashed it and it was my tummy making the noise. Reminded me of this though and gave me a giggle.
Hope all ok with you :)

Well it's Sunday and still no waters leaked. Fri night/early Sat morning though I was getting lots of sharp shooting pains through the night and irregular contractions - I decided to conserve my energy and try to get some sleep and woke up absolutely fine. I've had nothing since - don't know if I was going into labour and went off the boil or was just having prelabour contractions and my body is just gearing up for things. Either way it seems I have to wait a little longer for baby to appear.
