I have tried to be relaxed this pregnancy having had a nightmare with the last one, but now I'm not sleeping, keep waking at 6 and unable to fall back to sleep, absolutely destroys my day, lower back pain, frequent nausea and vomiting, and I just feel absolutely shatter ed. I've had some time off at home over the last couple of weeks and got nothing done- house a tip, ds watching loads of tv, just about managed a walk each day but not much more. I go back to a full on work load with lots of travel next week and I just do not know how I'm going to do it. Had a play date on tues and spent the whole day in bed on weds. Due to go off on mat leave very end of Nov. How on earth am I going to cope? Help.

Get signed off. I was similar - totally shattered but unable to sleep and often awake for 3 or 4 hours. Lots of pain and sickness.

The Dr signed me off (wasnt what I wanted) and it took me 2 full weeks of lying in bed doing nothing (except surreptisiously working until I got told off by my manager) until I started to relax and be able to sleep again. I hadnt realised how stressed and tense Id gotten.

Thanks shah. Sorry to hear you were unwell too but glad your recovering. I'm on a temporary contract so not sure if a 2 week stretch of sickness is coveted- I've been there nearly a year though so prob should. I'm worried that even with some time off sick ill collapse by 38 weeks. Or am I being a drama queen and this will pass? I don't have chronic sickness or spd after all.

Is there any way you can work from home for at least part of the week to save yourself the stress of travel? If you can, just go to your GP and ask them to give you a fitness for work note with amended duties. Otherwise, I agree with Shah: get yourself signed off for a week or two.
I'm only 17 weeks but am struggling with exhaustion and pregnancy complications so have been signed to work from home part of the week. Where's this 'burst of energy' that's supposed to come in the 2nd tri?!

I do think that you can get dips at different points that don't necessarily last - remember feeling exhausted at a couple of points around 25 weeks then felt a lot better until about 32 weeks and even towards the end my energy levels and pain fluctuate hugely. All you can do is go on how you are right now. Since you're exhausted, feet signed off for a bit more time and see how you feel after that.

I'm 26 weeks and have felt absolutely shattered most days. I'm trying to work from home at least one day a week which is really helping and I've also come in 1/2 hour late all this week and just worked a shorter lunch. I never get a full lunch break anyway so it works and has made a massive difference. Try talking to your manager to see if they can be more flexible with your working. Feeling a lot more awake this week-not sure if it's the extra 30 mins in bed or that the tiredness is subsiding a bit. Hope it's the latter. I know energy levels do vary daily so hope you feel better soon.

I had a week off at 25 weeks because i was so shattered (and also so worried about how long I had to go). My GP was very sympathetic and insisted I had the full week and that having a day off then struggling on wasn't going to help.

The full week off did help and I have just finished work at 36 weeks, didn't take any further sick leave. I was aiming for 37 weeks but am happy with 36, feel very ready to stop now (I have a stressful job and work on my feet).

Hope you feel better soon. I remember that feeling of overwhelming dread and tiredness, it's awful. I agree with those saying energy levels fluctuate. I found the second half of the second trimester exhausting but have been a bit better since about 30 weeks (though heavier and slower).

And yes me and my toddler also watch a lot of tv these days Blush
