I have just had a preggie moment where I have just eating something ridiculous. Nothing bad for baby, but for some reason at the age of 28 I have just had pop tarts for breakfast.

My mother would be ashamed!! DH bought them and I have just realised how horrible they are.

What have you guys eaten during pregnancy that you are not proud of? Xx

Whole balls of buffalo mozzarella. The pricer the better. They had to be room tempurature and I ate them out of a bowl so I didn't get in a mess. I did butter a Hob Nob the other day, then had to imediately put them away and forget about it as buttered Hob Nobs could very easily become what I eat for every meal.

I had a nice healthy lunch including quiche and salad. Put a few croutons on the salad and then proceeded to eat the whole bag is croutons like they were crisps

Grape-nuts cereal. Malty goodness.

Sainsbo's ran out the other day so I asked the assistant in the cereal aisle if they had any. "Grape nuts? Grape nuts? Have you seen them in the cereal aisle before?" Yes, seeing as they're cereal Hmm

Completely irrational but made me furious and we had to go to Morrisons to find some!

Shreddies! A boxful every two to three days as had for breakfast, elevenses, lunch, midafternoon, and after my tea. Unfortunately I was often sick after eating them though had no morning sickness and was fine eating anything else I just had to keep eating the one thing that didn't agree with me!

CherryLips1980 · 26/08/2014 07:15

Last time Marmite and banana toasted sandwiches. Still love them now but not for EVERY meal like last time.

This time, I seem to have developed a liking for mustardy mash with spring onions. Irrational RAGE when DP (who does the cooking) uses new potatoes instead of mash.

Rainbow555 · 26/08/2014 07:55

I'm still at the hating eating stage, but tinned rice pudding is also on my menu for any meal!

ELA88 · 26/08/2014 09:44

Everything!! I am just constantly ravenous! I'm onto my second breakfast of the morning!

bumpitybumpbump · 26/08/2014 09:49

Wotsits. So many wotsits. Day or night. I just couldn't get enough of that tangy cheesy goodness.

Worksallhours · 26/08/2014 15:38

ohthegoats, do you think it could be some sort of increased sugar need in pregnancy?

Reason I mention this is that I have been a low-sugar/low-carb bod for about five years: no grains, no rice, and no processed food with sugar etc.

And now? Woah ... I'm like the cookie monster. I even had a dream about Ready Brek the other night; I haven't eaten Ready Brek for over twenty years.

ohthegoats · 26/08/2014 16:02

worksallhours - not sure, but I'm only half enjoying it. It makes me feel slightly rubbish, and my mouth taste horrible afterwards - same as it always did before I gave it up. But I can't seem to stop eating it anyway. Today I've had a piece of cheesecake, a cappuccino with sugar and a load of pickle in a sandwich - the pickle was all about the sugar really, rather than any other taste in it. I have had tomato soup too, but that's probably got sugar in it as well. Drinking loads of squash instead of water - I used to find squash quite horrible tasting (sweet, but also oddly salty). I'm looking forward to feeling like I want to eat as normal.

Cheepypeepy · 26/08/2014 20:12

crumbled up stock cubes in hot water in the biggest cups I could find

yogurt

Memphisbelly · 26/08/2014 20:25

Hamburgers from maccys with no sauce on them....they taste how 8 imagine dust tastes like but I cannot get enough!

Lasy time was anything pickled, we went to Tenerife and hires a car just to get to a rumoured Iceland in the next town, I bought every jar of pickled onions, chillis and gerkins they had to last me a week, I sat on the beach, car, bus, mountain with a fork in the jar of something pickled.

TeaAddict235 · 26/08/2014 20:40

mc chicken sandwiches and big macs!!

omg!

maccie d chips too!

btw I had rice pudding for breakfast today! strange world huh?!

Rainbow555 · 27/08/2014 06:37

Good old rice pudding!

wingcommandergallic · 27/08/2014 12:46

It's saved my hunger pangs on many occasions!

I wondered if the need for sugar and processed carbs was something to do with blood sugar levels. I read that in your first trimester you produce an extra 3 pints of blood so maybe we just need more fuel.

or is that too simplistic?

ChickenMe · 27/08/2014 17:29

I'm wondering too wing. Pre-pregnancy I was a Paleo/Primal type or tried to be. I've managed to stay off gluten but only because there is so much GF food around now! The rest has gone to pot.
I'm wondering if the pregnancy is taking all my salt as I'm desperate for salty foods. And what you say about the blood sounds logical.
Would a pregnant cave lady have been given lots of fruit maybe for easily accessible sugar?

Mistyautumn · 27/08/2014 17:58

I got cravings for salty things early on. Especially pork scratching !!!

Marmite and chocolate spread on toast. Salt & Vinegar crisps with hot chocolate. Boursin, Marmite and crisp sandwiches. There was a theme with DS.

With DD I was obsessed with oregano!

kf1979 · 28/08/2014 05:11

Nacho cheese Doritos. By the truckload. And pints of milk.

MooseBeTimeForSpring · 28/08/2014 05:39

Poutine (Canadian junk food - basically chips, stringy cheese and gravy) and Haribo Tangfastics. Not at the same time though.

Might explain why DS was 10lb 11oz!
