I have just had a show but really am not sure if my waters have broken? It stated off with some water coming out first which left a mark on the sheet about the size of a small side plate, this was a straw colour, i've been having contactions which are more painful? I definetly know i've had a show but not sure if that was my waters, which comes first??

your show usually comes first

your waters would probably be more than that but they don't have to come out all at once
If your having contractions then it sounds like you on your way

I have given birth twice and both times they had to break my waters which is fine

Good Luck and take care

there are not hard and fast rules. It sounds like it could be your waters.

Good Luck - you will be seeing your baby soon!

Beetroot · 20/09/2006 08:17

lol! two different points of view already!

trinityshiftingherleatheryarse · 20/09/2006 08:18

It sounds like everything is fine to me so breathe and go with it

angelfaces · 20/09/2006 08:18

if its was a mucus jelly like susbstance then a show. if watery, then yep, youve guessed it, your waters. sounds as though they might be trickleing (sp)out rather than gushing! good luck.

if it smells sort of sweet, it's your waters! I never had a show at all, or not one that I noticed, anyway. Sounds like it's happening, good luck!

angelfaces · 20/09/2006 08:24

Well is started with water which spurted out whilst i was lying in bed, a straw colour then after the water came i stood up and this was followed by the mucus (sorry this sounds so dicusting i know!!), am 100% sure ive had a show but still a little confused about the waters breaking!!xx

That sounds like your waters breaking. You can get a test done at hospital if you really want to be sure. If I were you, I would relax and wait and see.

Miaou · 20/09/2006 08:32

You don't always get a show angelfaces - but it does sound like your waters have gone. If you leak more lying down than standing up, then that's a good sign it's your waters. Good luck!

Don't know what to suggest, always had my waters broken by MW, but GOOD LUCK!!! (no more PUPP!!)

SnowBoo · 20/09/2006 11:55

I had to wait until they were every 3mins. And tbh i was quite pleased as when i got to hosp baby was born quite soon after. GOOD LUCK!

liquidclocks · 20/09/2006 12:03

angelfaces - have you had any more leaking since your first post?

I'd go in either when they're 5 mins apart OR you want some pain relief, both are very valid reasons! Good luck!

angelfaces · 20/09/2006 14:38

Had a bit more of a show throughout the day, not too much, still having pains about every ten mins...

Hang in there, Angelfaces - you'll be ok. Don't feel that you can't go to the hospital, if that's where you'd rather be. All the best!
