What can I do to stop them hurting soooo much - I feel as though I am about to get my period and people are poking hot sticks into the side of them (in reality I am 2 months pregnant!!) - Can't remember them being like this last time and DP has decided that I am over egging it because I want him to give them a good fondle when in reality a fondle is the last thing they need!!

This is serious too!!

Lots of sympathy Twinkie - I was exactly the same - in fact it's how I knew I was pregnant before I took a test - I couldn't stand taking my bra off at night they were so sore!

No answers really - wearing a bra at night helped for the first 2 - 3 months. They did get a bit better in the middle bit of the pregnancy, but to be honest, are still quite sore now and I'm 40 + 6!!! Sorry - hopefully lots of people will write with similar things and you can show the thread to dp - he'll have to be v. patient...!

Twinkie, I second the suggestion about wearing a bra at night - get some nice soft comfy ones. You could try eating more oily fish or taking fish oils (you can get ones that are supposed to be OK to take during pregnancy) because it is supposed to help with cyclical breast pain (i.e. pain just before a period) so might help a bit now too (I am guessing, BTW). Mine aren't so sore this pg though and I've been taking fish oils (but a sample of 1 is nothing to go on really).

Twinkie mine have been VERY painful this time around - they still are at 23 weeks so no advice here, just sympathy. (Fish oil doesn't seem to have made a lot of difference but am still taking it anyway.)

Twinkie - my boobs were so painful for the first 3 months i litterally wanted to cry when i had to get undressed at night time because i knew how much it would hurt. Surprisingly enough, i didn't think to sleep with my bra on .

Anyway, glad to say the feel much much better now - sometimes feel a bit tender but nowhere near as painful as they were.
Hope it doesn't last too long for you

Ooooh thasnks guys - I don't know why they are like this this time around but will start on the fish oils and wear a bra in bed!!

They are already huge and I can't run because of the pain!!

yep, mine were just like this too - awful.
it did pass by about 14 weeks.

tomkitty · 06/04/2004 03:59

Mine quit hurting around 13-14 weeks but they kept growing and growing and now they are huge! I increased 3 cup sizes. I'm sick of it. I hear that there is another growth spurt just before birth too. Please god no more.

Lesley76 · 06/04/2004 04:46

I had this for the first trimester as well but it stopped around week 14. Found that sleeping with a soft sports bra on really helped and have continued this throughout pregnancy. I'm now 38 weeks & found that after the initial growth spurt & tenderness they haven't got much bigger throughout pregnancy, which is a relief!!!

BIBIBOO · 04/05/2004 10:34

I had this problem too - and it was agony! Soft bras were my saviours at night - I couldn't bear the feel of bed sheets or t-shirts on my nipples. I couldn't lie on my front for the first 12 week (and now can't becausee of bump) and I knew well before the pg test that something was going on as boobs felt like water balloons filled with boiling water

Soft bras are all I can sugges, and maybe a cold, damp flannel if you can bear the texture! I know this isn't very comforting, but at least we're all in this together!

Levanna · 04/05/2004 22:38

I had this first time, but not so much this time and funnily enough, I've eaten more oily fish early on this time, so maybe there's something in that! Wearing a soft bra day and night helped a lot last time too . I'm leaking loads now though! (24 weeks) It seems to be helping relieve the discomfort.

Hi Twinkie,
Poor little you I seem to remember this lasting all through the 1st trimester and then tapering off..... sorry!
