Body Oil

Hi,

I am 8 weeks and have already started to use body oil on my stomach, boobs, bum and thighs to prevent stretch marks. At the moment, I am just using a Nivea Body Oil that I had in the cupboard but its almost empty so need to buy some more. I had a look the other day and there seems to be lots to choose from and they range in price, but wondered if anyone could recommend a good one which has worked for them?

If it's in your genes your going to get the no matter what. I've used bio oil from day one and also cocoa butter, and the stretch marks I have are ridiculous.

Agree with OP, unfortunately I think its down to genes. I'm currently 36+3 and luckily am stretch mark free but my mum had 2 kids and got away with it too, maybe ask some female relatives? Saying that I've still been giving my skin some TLC, I've been using Superdrug vitamin E body cream all over (the massive tubs are always on offer) and Palmers bump butter on my bump. Normally my skin is very dry but this extra care has really kept it lovely and soft.

I used nothing and got no stretch marks last pregnancy and none so far this one, I think it's just your type of skin…

But always nice to treat yourself anyway :)

Hubby bought me a gorgeous expensive oil from Clarins and I have been using cocoa butter religiously from about 12 weeks. Stretch marks still showed their ugly face at 34 weeks, I'm afraid!

I've just used plain wheatgerm oil every morning and sanctuary bump oil every evening (only cos I was given it).

I've been using Bio Oil once or twice daily since about 25 weeks. It feels nice to rub something on the bump every day. And it feels reassuring that I'm trying to do something to prevent stretch marks, even though I know in my head that it might not help at all.

I've used bio oil since about 15 weeks and still use it now (40+4) and have no stretch marks and a very smooth bump:-) But I agree with previous poster, it's genetic, my mum has never had any stretch marks and neither have I so I didn't expect to get any. But no harm in using it.

I am one of 5 kids and my Mum doesn't have one stretch mark, so I am hoping I will be the same but still want to do as much as possible to prevent it if it is going to happen! My skin has also been feeling quite dry these last few weeks.

I get stretch marks, on boobs and thighs from earlier years, I've used bio oil from a few weeks into pregnancy on tummy and boobs, I got new ones on hips, didn't think to apply to that area but none on tummy, currently 37+4 and no new ones on boobs which went from 32d to 36e

I just thought if I do nothing and get them I'll be cross with myself, if I do what I can and still get them, at least I tried, thankfully it's largely paid off for me.

On second bottle of 200ml bio oil, from amazon, loads cheaper than high street.

I'm very prone to stretch marks and have got lots from previous sudden weight loss (grief). However, I'm 33 weeks pregnant and have been rubbing cream or oil into my stomach twice daily and haven't seen anything yet there's still time though. I've used the pregnacare cream in the morning because it sinks in quickly or the sanctuary body oil. I've also had a bottle of bio oil to use in the night.

I dont think its worth bothering plus most cosmetics and toiletries are full of chemicals so I tend to avoid them more in pregnancy. Do try to stick to paraben free products if you must use them. Just a small thing but it's one other small thing.
