What food could you manage for breakfast during the first trimester?
My retching/ms is much worse first thing as I am so hungry. But my mouth is objecting to most things! Just wanted ideas o things that might work for others!

I can eat some amount of cereal straight away but need more within an hour and it is then that I struggle!

Anyone got something that works well for them??

Nightmare isn't it? I can sometimes do a hard boiled egg on toast. Or just toast with marmalade or peanut butter.

Or I just do cereal again. So two breakfasts, both consisting of weetabix and muesli.

Also if I am at work I find slightly less sugary pastries can work eg a muffin from somewhere like pret (still sweet, just less obviously so) or even better if home baked.

Banana. Eaten very very slowly.

When i was in first trimester i used to have a barley sugar sweet as soon as i woke up an that stopped the sick feeling after a couple of minutes.
Ive heard the same of ginger biscuits but didnt try them myself
Hope that helps

HaPPy8 · 19/08/2014 21:55

Toast all the way!

woodwaj · 19/08/2014 22:01

I scoff a pack of mini cheddars as soon as I get to work and stop feeling sick within a few mins. Struggle to sometimes but I know it works

KitKat1985 · 19/08/2014 22:10

Toast or belvita biscuits used to be my saviour. Something plain that didn't trigger the nausea too much. xxx

notadoctor · 19/08/2014 22:14

Ritz crackers or Belvita biscuits worked for me.

Kelbells · 19/08/2014 22:14

Nairns ginger oat biscuits were great for me... Just got my next bfp so I've already ordered some for my next sainos order Grin

Scrambled egg was all I could eat, anything carby was out, which was wierd cause later in the day I wanted bowls of pasta!

squizita · 20/08/2014 08:41

I would have oat cakes (they do flavoured ones with chocolate or cheese). Basically something small, dense and dry.

Also like you I would eat some first thing, then get hungry. Oat cakes are easier to stash in the handbag and have a sly nibble!

Heatherbell1978 · 20/08/2014 08:44

Toast with marmite or just a scraping of butter.

WorrisomeHeart · 20/08/2014 08:47

Sesame bagels are my saviour this time. I have cereal at home and then a bagel as soon as I get into work. I'm starving all morning with this pregnancy whereas with my DS it was all day.

ACM88 · 20/08/2014 09:20

I had a pack of ginger nuts by my bed, and as soon as I woke up I had one and a bottle of water (all of it) i found that any naustia went a way, and I then had a bowl of cereal for breakfast, with some red grapes. I survived on this from week 8-12. Now at week 17 I can eat whatever without feeling sick.

miniHovis · 20/08/2014 09:37

belvita biscuits where my go to breakfast, nothing else stayed down

Acorncat · 20/08/2014 10:29

I just had a bit of bread about an hour after getting up then some belvita biscuits mid morning. I think being hungry makes it worse, but then having food gives you something to bring back up!

LancashireTea · 20/08/2014 10:35

I carried a tub of gingernuts with me and nibbled whenever I could stomach it. And Alpen bars were a godsend to nibble inbetween my classes.

m33r · 20/08/2014 16:36

I eat a digestive before I step out of bed. Really helps. Later, I manage cereal.

weebairn · 20/08/2014 18:18

eggs are good. also marmite.

Couldn't eat anything sweet in first trimester just made me so sick.

Rainbow555 · 20/08/2014 20:45

Thanks for all the suggestions! I stocked up on supplies last night so will see this morning!
Have tried ginger nuts, crackers, bellavita biscuits whilst still I bed but no real luck there. For a while I could eat crumpets but hate them now too!
A whole bottle of water, gosh perhaps I should try drinking more!

I can't eat anything sweet either, think that is why some of the biscuits and things don't work

Will see what I can get down today :)

I couldn't do a whole bottle of water either but I do fill a bottle full with ice and top it up with water at work. I love the cold!

ChickenMe · 20/08/2014 21:49

I can't stomach anything before about 10am. I have brunch.
Today I had a toasted tuna mayo sarnie. I also like eggs on toast. I also have these things called corn thins - like rice cakes but corn. I spread philly on em and then put a slice of chicken on top.
I find a 50% protein 50% carb mix works. I wasn't one for a carb before but now I like a carb!
