Hi all

I delivered my 3 rd baby 6 days ago. She was prem and born at 35 plus 6. The day after delivery my BP went sky high and I was started on lane tallow twice a day. When my Bo is checked now it is fluctuating, sometimes very high and sometimes ok. I was re admitted to hospital yesterday for a further check, but it went down while I was there and I was sent home. Has this happened to anyone else? It's all getting a stressful, esp with the shock of having a Peem baby etc. the issue for the drs is it is fluctuating up and down, and no one really can work out what is happening.

Yes. My sister's BP went up after she had her daughter (three weeks early). They kept her in hospital until it had stabilised.

I had this, but it was monitored at home. Just like you, up and down. I could actually feel it going up.

It's horrible, worrying and a huge distraction when you have got a tiny newborn to care for. Mine went within a couple of weeks.

My GP said that pregnancy and the immediate post partum period are like a window into the future, so I was advised to have regular blood pressure checks in the future.

Balls. Forgo to say congratulations!

Thanks, that sounds exactly same as me. Being monitored at home unless worryingly high. Good to know about the future. I can also feel it going up and down. Today for first time it was reasonably ok when the midwife checked it, so am hopeful we have turned a corner. AppRently one of my liver function readings has also gone a bit high so that will be re checked in a few days. This little baby causing havoc with my body!

It took about 6 weeks post pre-eclampsia for my BP to stabilise. The GP booked me into have BP taken by midwives at first them the Community Nurses. They gave me a time and when it shot up again, they phoned the GP to get me checked more thoroughly. After 6 weeks it was back to normal and I haven't had any other problems on a day to day basis.

It went up in my labour with ds but settled as soon as he was born, and I had BP issues through my gall bladder op and 12 hours afterwards. But no issues since.
