Any tips or safe medicines to help constipation feel like my stomach is about to pop? :-(

Try prune juice - tastes revolting, but it does seem to work for me Grin

Drink LOADS of water (stay by the loo for the peeing). Just keep drinking and walking around a bit. Can take a day if you're needing a lot of water.
Oh, and don't push really hard to get it out - more risk of bigger/more/some haemorrhoids!

I don't know about medications, but did the water thing in my second pregnancy and it made a huge difference (and got no haemorrhoids either - and there's virtually nothing that gets rid of them).

An entire bag of prunes. Do NOT leave the house though.

PigeonPie · 15/08/2014 20:20

If you can't face prunes try warmed orange juice and eat dried apricots.

Then eat at least four dried apricots a day until after the birth! Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

Prune juice. I mixed with orange juice and drank fast. I suffered terribly otherwise

Bondy83 · 15/08/2014 21:01

Thanks can't be bothered going the shops now so I'm sipping on a cup of hot water hopefully that'll shift it. Oh how I love being pregnant!

One sachet of fybogel a day has done the trick for me. I know about it if I miss one though!

SeaSaltMill · 16/08/2014 08:52

I'm about to go to the doctor about mine! Water doesn't help, lactulose makes me gag...movicol might be ok but it depends how bad it is. Mines bad!

Toohotforfishandchips · 16/08/2014 09:17

Mine was really bad - but prune juice does work Wink

AllYouNeedIsTea · 16/08/2014 10:17

I used to add lactulose to drinks to make it more bearable. It made my tea strangely sweet but i grew to quite like it Smile

Annarose2014 · 16/08/2014 10:42

Apparently Lactulose doesn't actually relieve constipation, but what it does is make the stool wetter so it glides out easier.

Niiiiiiiice....... Grin

I'm taking prune juice every second evening. Its bearable if you use a straw and suck it down fast!

SeaSaltMill · 16/08/2014 10:44

My gp has told me to take paediatric movicol to get things going and then water lactulose prune juice etc after to keep me regular.
