MIL on finding out we were having twins said... "I don't want to worry you, but I know someone who had twin boys and they both turned out to be gay" WTactualF?!

What are some of the howlers that you've heard been thrust upon you

The latest one i had, in Asda, almost wretching in the processed meats isle while my OH was hunting me down a Strawberry Yop.

Store assistant- Awh, whats the matter?
Me - Morning sickness
Store assistant - Why so glum, you're having a baby!! Be happy! It'll help make sure its a happy baby you know!

And this is scientific fact is it... morning sickness is just a figment too i bet.

Squizita MAC might be a good idea, from what I can see on OBEM babies come out very red/grey/purple. A nice foundation would help the photos.

ooh, just experienced a good one:
Emailed a colleague to let her know 'the news' (she works from home, so isn't in the office much)- she emailed back to ask if it was a joke, and I've just found out also texted my boss to ask the same! Feeling a little bit insulted that someone would think that this is a joking kind of a matter!

The best (worst?) one I got with my twins was "Did you have IVF or are they real?"

REAL, FFS?!

Congratulations OP Flowers

Pico2 · 19/08/2014 19:53

Grokette - that's bizarre, as if there are people with fictional children.

Devora · 20/08/2014 18:24

Ah Grokette, I have one 'real' child and the other, who is adopted. It's amazing how many people have said, in front of the adopted child, "and is this your REAL child?" indicating the other. Nice.

Husband told MIL she was going to be a grandmother again - her response was "you're having a baby?! Who with?!" We have been married for 8 years..!

The plumber who we know fairly well given he was working on the house renovations when dd (now 17 months) was born, on seeing my rather obvious bump turned to DH and said 'well you've been a rather busy boy haven't you' Confused

Words failed me.

sallygib · 20/08/2014 19:53

When the guy who gives me a lift to work found out that I was preggo he responded with " Sorry, I know this is a sensitive issue for you, but, whenever I've got something in my stomach I just think...Parasite!" and then proceeded to drive like a lunatic.

The most awkward (and not to mention biologically flawed) response to date!

ToniWol · 21/08/2014 13:45

Whenever people ask me "Do you know if it's a boy or a girl?" I just respond with "Yes!". Am fairly sure it'll be one of them - just don't know which one.

MissingMyMarbles · 21/08/2014 23:46

I am currently not pregnant, so am finding these hilariously shocking. We have a 7 year gap between our girls due to mc's etc but 'was it planned?' was common; also, 'how long have you been married?' followed 'how old is *dd1?' ! I think they were trying to work out if they had the same dad!! Cheeky gits!

Can't believe some of these comments...how can people be so rude?!

The day after my 12-week scan, I was sharing the scan picture with some of my colleagues and they were so happy for me! A colleague walked in to the room and I said "I've got something to show you" and she replied with..."Let me guess, you're pregnant, you've looked rough for weeks!"
Everyone just stood looking at her gobsmacked! I replied with, "Well that's funny because I've felt great!" GRRRR!!! She's a mum of 2 herself so that shocked me even more!
