Baby carrier for a newborn

My DD is due in December and while I've got the travel system ordered, I need something "hands free" for when I'm walking our young, slightly energetic dog.

I've looked at the baby bjorn and don't really like the look of it and I don't think it looks suitable for very young babies (I'll possibly be on my own with baby and dog from when baby is only a week old as DP can only get 1 week off work).

Is there anything that would be suitable and secure enough for a wee one? Ideally something that I can also continue to use as she gets bigger?

Thanks all - going to see if I can find a local sling meet and try some out - hadn't heard of many of these brands!

Nanoo have you had a chance to try out the DX? If not I'd say try before you buy, we thought it looked liked a good dad friendly one but its awful and regardless of size it never seems to fit knee to knee with bum in an M shape.

It was a FAFF to put on so if you have a fussy child it'd be near impossible to wrestle them into both parts.

Haven't tried the DX yet - thanks for the advice!

Definitely try a sling meet. Lots of options for newborn, moby wraps, close Caboo or kari me.

You can use some of the full buckles from birth with an insert, I used an ergo until DS was 17mo before switching to a tula but you can use Tulas from birth too either with an insert or a rolled blanket.

Have also heard the DX is quite difficult to get one with from a pal......
