Hi all!

Bit new to this! I took a test last night (day 15po) and got a really dark positive line! But I had a look online at a PT gallery, and my line seemed much darker than many others taken at the same time - is this normal or am I completely mixed up with my dates?

Told my mum to get some moral support, ended up feeling a bit meh as she was a bit like "Thats good.... oh wait, its really early, well...."

Sorry for moaning, have been TTC for a couple of months but really didn't expect this month, so still a bit in shock!

Congratulations on your BFP!

A nice strong positive is a good thing - I was getting faint positives by 10dpo, and they were quite dark by 15dpo. If you had a period as normal last month then I think your dates cant really be out by much., maybe by a couple of days if you ovulated a bit earlier than you thought.

How are you feeling?

Thanks for the replies and thanks for the reassurance GailLondon!

Feel completely fine - although a bit in shock! Glad that their are people on here to ask questions to as its all a bit overwhelming!

Congrats! Don't worry too much about the mum thing, mine was exactly the same. I got my BFP just a couple of days after period was due and my mum was like 'oh, you can't know yet, it's far too early....'. Hmm so it was all a bit underwhelming when I told her but in her day, you missed 2 periods before even going to the doc so she couldn't believe I could test so early!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 13/08/2014 08:30

Are you positive about your ovulation date? I ovulate on day 9 of my cycle - as I found out at my "12" week scan, last year! You may ovulate early, so might be slightly further along than you think.

Many congratulations on your pregnancy, either way! Hope you have an easy pregnancy. Thanks

You absolutely CANNOT tell anything from a POAS line. It measures the waste from the HCG in your urine, which does not come out as a nice even flow but fluctuates wildly based on time of day, hydration, how much hormone was produced over a few hours etc'. Also the ink/dye varies.

So I wouldn't worry. My 1st POAS this time was a faint, faint line: due to health reasons I had an early scan and was bang on. Could be the same for a darker line.

There are those £10 ones that tell you weeks since implantation but they aren't 100% accurate either - but if you want peace of mind over dates try one? :)

I had a very strong line within seconds of poas and it was only 3 days over my period being due. There won't be a problem with your dates being a bit out at this stage, they will revise your due date at the 12 week scan if they think it needs to be, and will date from the first day of your last period until then.

Congratulations!
My dad's reaction was the same as your mum's! Very cautious until I'd been to midwife and it was more "official"
