hi all,

i came off the pill in july, had ewcm that month and af arrived 28 days later...last month (august) was a very stressful time for me - my mum was ill in hospital - had no ewcm as far as I was aware and my af arrived after 34 days - almost a week late. this is the first month that we're actively ttc-ing and so far i've had no sign of ewcm...i'm worried that this and that long cycle are a sign of probs - can anyone offer any reassurance on this? thanks xxx

Hi glittercaz,

To be honest I've never really noticed much EWCM and my cycles were never particularly regular - between say 26-31 days. I was a bit worried before we started TTC that this would mean problems but tbh I think we can all get into a bit of a state about the whole TTC thing and try to 'control' or monitor it too much before we even give it a chance. In the end, I became pregnant in the first month - so my advice is, have lots of sex and try not to dwell on things too much! Fingers crossed for you xxx

thanks tinasan...i will try not to worry!

also paranoid as i've had my fair share of party time (wine, social smoking, late nights) and worried i've damaged my fertility...i'm 30 now, which i know is hardly young it's not pushing it in terms of time if there ARE probs i need to sort out...anyone else? I'd be really grateful to hear of other people's experiences xx

Glittercaz, I would say that you should see what your cycle does this month as you may still be settling after coming off the pill. 34 days is not so long and you may find you settle at something like 28 to 32 days if you give it a little more time.
On the subject of EWCM - it might be that you don't notice it, or it might be that you just haven't got close to ovulation and you only get it for 1/2 days, which seems to be quite normal, so one day it will suddenly 'hit' you (so to speak). What CD are you on?
Another thing is that if you are having unprotected sex then it might be getting mixed in with the sperm and so you aren't able to distinguish it.

You are nice and young, so that is good that you are watching it now, but I suspect that you have nothing to worry about and you'll be pregnant in no time.

aww, thanks rubles, i hope that is the case! I do have a tendency to worry about things and i know that's not good in terms of ttc-ing! i am now on cd 16 so i guess it's possible that i haven't ov-d yet, have been getting what i think are ov twinges all weekend though so hopefully that's a good sign things are happening! xx

Hi again,

You really do sound like me before I started TTC! I'm 32 and have definitely had my fair share of partying - in fact I kept up the drinking/smoking side of things during the first month of TTC as we weren't trying very hard iykwim, so of course I thought it couldn't possily happen You are still young in fertility terms and look at it this way, there's no reason why you shouldn't conceive easily so go ahead, enjoy it and see what happens! Best of luck and keep us posted when you get your BFP!x

thanks tinasan - will keep you all posted! xxx
