Big Mac Binge Shame

I'm a 22 week gestational diabetic and have just eaten, no, INHALED a Big Mac meal! I'm so ashamed of myself! Blush
Ive been so good since I was diagnosed about a month ago. But today had been a horrible, emotional, hormonally-charged day. I started driving and I ended up at the drive thru.
I feel pretty guilty now :( although I did get diet coke...

Tomorrows a new day. Start a fresh from now and don't fret to much about it. You cannot change it now.

Next time your having a rubbish day come here and vent. We can either all moan together or try and lift you up Smile

LAMYs - you are absolutely hilarious, you have really made me laugh.

I feel your pain though. Congratulations on doing SO well for the last month.... Is it reasonable to have one treat each month to acknowledge his well you have done? It's difficult, of course it's not ideal but you are human and you mustn't feel guilty considering that you are obviously doing so well.

Good luck
X

Join my club! Also 22 wks a Type 1 diabetic and yesterday I went to McDonalds and scoffed a LARGE Big Mac meal 4 nuggets I stole off DH and a large strawberry milkshake. I've barely eaten today because of it and now I'm feeling doubly guilty.

I don't think it will hurt having the odd indulgence. Be kind to yourself, you're only human and I'm sure baby enjoyed it anyway, mine seemed to!

Diet coke cancels it out - fact.

Don't worry about it and try again tomorrow Thanks

Loveallmyboys · 12/08/2014 19:45

J'adore you all!! Baby was breakdancing after the carb overload! Must have been thinking 'wtf is this?!'

I went to McDonald's on the way home the other day and treated myself to 2 double cheeseburgers, 2 large fries and a portion of cheesebites. And a diet coke.
Feel no shame.

Loveallmyboys · 12/08/2014 20:26

Oh stop it! You're making me hungry again! and those sh*tty oatcakes festering in the back of the cupboard aren't really tantalising the taste buds! Bork!!

Haha! I'm (fingers crossed) past the stage of only wanting shit food (12+4) but I have no doubt it will come back.

I would normally say just go for it but with GD I wouldn't!

Loveallmyboys · 12/08/2014 20:58

It's bloody typical! For the first 19 weeks I retched and felt sick constantly at just the idea of any food! I was diagnosed with GD around the same time so now I want to eat everything I see, I can't! To say I'm pissed off would be a huge understatement!!

Yea it's Sod's law isn't it!!

Loveallmyboys · 12/08/2014 21:12

Yup! Well on the plus side, I've lost weight(not necessarily a good thing when I weighed sod all to start with) so shouldn't be too bad post-birth! Gotta be a silver lining in there somewhere eh!

I feel your pain I to have GD but can just get away with 1 cheese burger and 1 apple pie and stay under 7.8 just out of interest what was your Blood Sugar like after ? It's the chips that seem to push me over :(

ChaircatMiaow · 13/08/2014 06:37

Now I want a Big Mac soooo badly.

As soon as I give birth I'm going to hoover a caramel sundae. And sashimi. And a whole lemon meringue pie.

Loveallmyboys · 13/08/2014 07:53

I packed a 6-pack of creme eggs in my hospital bag with DS2! Those bad boys were more vital than breast pads! Erm it was a little over an hour lster but was only 6.8! Think I might go for round 2 today since my blood enjoyed it! Haha

Sounds like your body handled it fine not sure about two though lol. Now im wondering if I could get away with having one. Hmm

MummytoMog · 13/08/2014 08:36

Protein is good for you though - and not masses of carbs in a Big Mac unless you ate loads of chips too? Fat probably did you good too if you're low on body fat normally.
