Ok, so I have high blood pressure. I'm currently approx five weeks pregnant and I have already been hospitalized due to it overnight. They have started me on pregnancy safe beta blockers.

However I have just been to self check my blood pressure at the surgery and it has crept back up. 148/116. Pulse 119. This looks likely to be an ongoing problem and I'm worrying about what it's going to mean for my baby and antenatal care. Am I likely to be hospitalized again? Am I going to have to have more regular hospital appointments? Has anyone else had this? I'm terrified now :(

Hiya, I had high bp from 15 weeks higher than yours I'm on labetalol 600mg a day and it took a lot of adjusting to get it right in the beginning the dose would keep it at bay for about 3 weeks then it would slowly creep back up I was signed off sick and I haven't been back yet. They told me the quicker it rises the more likely it is to plateau out near the end (like mine is doing) I was on precaution 75mg aspirin, I was warned that pre eclampsia is on the cards but touch wood with 6 days to go I'm ok. Yes my feet are puffy, I have horrendous water retention but they told me that pe is after 20 weeks, I was warned and warned again about loosing her or prem baby but tbh we are ok they will take great care of you I'm not doing it again as I have a blood problems and I know a c section is on the cards as she's breech and I know celaxane is afterwards be prepared for lots of appts but its worth it

Thank you. It was higher than this when I was admitted, and has been ridiculously high (278/160) when they failed tried to do a 24 hour bp monitoring. The cuff broke all the capillaries in my arm!

I'm just a worrier. I'm currently on labetalol 400 mg so hopefully it'll sort itself out. Kidneys are my problem. Just praying they hold out! Good luck with our baby, have you been admitted much?
