Just need to have a moan (even though I am exceptionally grateful for the position i am in with having a healthy pregnancy), but I am 24 weeks and I have put on 1.5 stone already and getting really worried that the biggest growth spurt is about to come. Anyone else feel the same or am I just being irrational? Just hope I can get back to pre pregnancy weight :-(

You are not being irrational at all and you are not alone, I am 25 weeks and I have put 2 stones so far!

I used to be a size 10 pre pregnancy and I don't recognised my body anymore. Like yourself I get mixed feelings because I am very happy about this pregnancy but at the same time I have a sense of loss when I see how much my body has changed.

My doula suggested that I should try to walk for an hour everyday and spend as much time as I can on the floor (eating, reading, watching TV...) and this is helping me to feel more flexible and agile. I also do some lightweights lifting 3 days per week and that makes me feel that I am at least toning my arms Grin

I found that joining a prenatal yoga class helps you to see other mums and bumps so you don't feel so lonely about so many changes in your body. Is there any class near where you are?

I try to think that now is the time to bond with my baby and that I will have time to lose weight after he is born. I am also concerned about the following months (Will I put 3 stones? Hmm) but on the other hand think that we just have few weeks to go until we can start being more active again.

Hope this helps!

I am feeling similar but I was pregnant last year and it ll came off very quickly. So don't worry. Buy some flattering maternity clothes, get a haircut and manicure. Cheesy.. But anything to make you feel good.

In my last pregnancy I put on 5 stone (I started at a size 12/14 that time). It was all gone by the time DD was 7/8 months as I was so busy running about after her and taking her for long walks etc.

Its a big shock when your body changes in pregnancy and a lot to get your head round. However it does go back again. I agree with MrsG above, haircut and a manicure can work wonders. I have a voucher for one I am saving for when I reach 30 wks+ as I know I will need it to cheer myself up Smile

I'm just approaching 24 weeks and feel the same :(

I've put on about 2 stone last time I checked. I'm usually a size 12 but my recent maternity jeans are a 16 as my legs are so fat and swollen - I have a horrid mark where my socks dig into my legs.

I'm so happy to be pregnant after earlier miscarriages but struggling with the combined weight gain, inability to exercise and craving for stodgy food to keep the nausea at bay.

As soon as this baby is out of me I'm planning lots of power walking with baby and pram and hopefully I'll be able to get back to normal soon she says as she shoves a bag of skittles down her throat

Thanks ladies, I appreciate all your comments. I know it is so worthwhile but I agree about pram walking and getting fit after :-)
