Don't want to make a fool of myself with a midwife yet! feeling really lightheaded today and keep having this weird thing in the fingers of my left hand.

Basically, any time I flex my fingers, the middle one gets stuck curled up! After a few seconds it uncurls, but there's nothing I can do.

This isn't a symptom of anything deadly for me or baby is it? LOL!

How menu weeks are you? Not sure about the weird finger thing but light headed-ness could be related to low blood pressure.

Heatherbell1978 · 11/08/2014 14:57

How many weeks are you? If your hands/fingers are also swollen then it sounds like common pregnancy symptom....carpal tunnel perhaps. I'm 39 weeks and about 3 weeks ago started to get swollen hands, they feel tingly a lot and I don't have the same grip I used to. I can crack the fingers on my left hand which I never used to be able to do! Mention it to your mw but doesn't sound like anything too worrying.

Oh sorry, am 30 weeks. Meant to put that! No swelling but I've had sciatica-like pains in my legs for the past few weeks. BP was checked at 28 weeks and was fine then.

Fingers are a bit tingly too!

I would phone the GP I think, rather than the midwife.

The fingers thing is probably carpal tunnel. V common in pregnancy, particularly affecting the thumb and first two fingers. Can feel tingly/dead/odd/harder to use than normal.

I'd get a onceover to check your bp, urine etc.

I have Carpel Tunnel Syndrome in my hands (only since 24 weeks preganant - I'm 26 weeks now) and when seeing my NHS phsyio today for sciatica she gave me wrist splints for nights which should help w the CTS.
The splints are from Promedics maybe you can get them on Amazon or somewhere if the GP recommends.

JennyBlueWren · 11/08/2014 15:46

When I had carpal tunnel (when I wasn't pregnant) my finger would suddenly get stuck in position -normally straight. Very annoying! It is quite common in later pregnancy so would be worth seeing GP about but wouldn't do any harm to speak to Midwife if it's easier to get hold of them.

Mine do the same OP, but right hand, if I bend my fingers, they get stuck and it hurts to uncurl them. Pain in my palm, wrist and elbow too.
Get woken up with numb hands and pins and needles. Bloody hurts. I'm 38+3.
I read online carpal tunnel can take a year after baby is born to go away! Confused
I just want to chop my arm off to be honest

CoolCat2014 · 11/08/2014 16:00

Sounds like possible carpel tunnel syndrome and either low blood pressure or low iron levels for the feeling faint - I'd go see your GP to get bloods checked, but feeling faint is quite common in pregnancy - I've had it loads, combo of low bp, mild anaemia and dehydration. Make sure you are drinking lots!
