Being induced tomorrow - feeling 'out of sorts'

I am booked in for induction tomorrow (first time)and am feeling very weird this evening- just not myself...headachey, nauseus, etc. I am just scared? Does it mean something is happening naturally?

Also, should I have already been offered a membrance sweep before I go in for 'proper' induction or will it be part of the process then?

THANKS

How overdue are you, or is there another reason for induction? If you're less than 2 weeks late then you could quite rightly ask for a sweep and put the induction off for a bit longer if you wanted to. All the fiddling about 'down there' during the induction will have a similar effect to a sweep but sweeps are fairly unrliable at getting things going anyway!! If they're inducing you for medical reasons then I don't know what the general consensus on sweeps is.

The strange feelings may well be nerves but if you've got high blood pressure then I'd phone your midwife asap and have a chat, just to be on the safe side.

No medical reasons; will be 40 weeks and 12 days which is the magic date for our unit. Haven't had any problems with blood pressure so far; think it's a bit of wishful thinking that I will go into labour naturally this evening!

I had to be induced both times and it was fine. Didn't like the hanging about all day before they got round to me , but once I got seen my experience was that it all happened quite quickly in terms of going into full labour.

I think it sounds like you could be going into labour naturally but may be worth checking your BP as well.

I was induced for my second child. It can make your contractions much stronger but I can't say I found it too bad. It's possible you are in early stages of labour, in which case you don't need to worry about it! Either way, enjoy your special day and Good Luck!!

could ask for a sweep tomorrow before they start induction - they will probably want to check how favourable your cervix is anyway before they start. membrane sweep can help get things going if they were going to start anyway. if feeling a bit off, then relax, have a nice long bath and enjoy a restful night before baba arrives xx good luck xxx

mine was induced 9 weeks ago and I was extremely worried the night prior, and analysing every feeling I had or didn't have.
Had on lot at 10.30 and no signs, another at 5pm and then signs from 7.30pm but they thought they may be false ones from the gel. 9pm pains increasing and in labour, 9.50ish waters were broken using "crochet hook" and baby no 3 born. I felt the benefits of knowing what was going on and being prepared mentally to have a baby

good luck

Thanks for all your good wishes. Nothing happened in the night; am just waiting to go into hospital at 11am. Feeling quite relaxed and as you said, Wakalnit, mentally prepared (as I'll ever be!)

Will let you know how it all went!
