Rennies didn't touch it, Gaviscon made me vomit more violently than I have EVER vomited - anyone have a magic cure they can suggest?

Right. Making a doctor's appt tomorrow. My diet is so bland and boring. No fruit juice. No fizzy. No fruit or veg at all really. No spice. Nothing to cause acid excepttthe tiny dot in my belly

I'm living off white carbs and chicken pretty much. Can't get anything else down.

Zantac from GP. Am stil eating whatever I fancy and having a tablet mid afternoon/tea time/evening as my stomach fills up :-)

Another vote for Omeprazole - free on prescription

What do you mean free on prescription?

Flisspaps · 10/08/2014 08:56

Funky - a GP can prescribe it, and pregnant women get free prescriptions (as well as free dental care)

I found ASDAs own brand fruit heartburn tablets were a miracle worker for £1.69 for 4 tubes (and no waiting for a GP appointment) Grin

Zantac - is amazing!!! I've suffered from 12 weeks and now at 31. I agree with you on gavisgon.
Also avoid large meals (graze) and tea sets me off, so does anything fizzy or anything spicy.
Good luck!! Xxx

madamweasel · 10/08/2014 09:53

Go to the GP. I went at 30 weeks drinking gaviscon after every drink or meal and heartburn/acid reflux has all but gone now I have proper meds. Don't out it off, it's not worth the hassle.

P.s. I'm now eating a much better, more varied diet, I didn't realise how much I was subconsciously picking things that wouldn't irritate the heartburn.

Another vote for Ranitidine

Lalalax3 · 10/08/2014 12:17

Your GP might try and fob you off with Gaviscon as a first-line attack. Resist! I explained about the Exorcist-style projectile Gaviscon vomiting and he wrote me a prescription for Ranitidine straight away!

mmgirish · 10/08/2014 15:30

I vote for omeprozole too... Changed my life!

eatscakefornoreasonwhatsoever · 10/08/2014 15:31

I'm hardly going to let them foist me off with that stuff. I can't even look at the bottle now!

It was fine last pregnancy. ..

Omeprazole has transformed my life. I had a bit of indigestion but terrible, awful vomiting, but omeprazole has improved things SOOO much. I'm still being sick at times and feeling nauseated but I can eat almost normally!

Hatetidyingthehouse · 10/08/2014 16:49

This sounds daft but I put some toothpaste at the back of my mouth which helped.
Was staying at a hotel and had nothing else

Binglesplodge · 11/08/2014 08:23

Having sung the praises of Omeprazole so recently I'm annoyed to return and say that even with the wonder drug I'm still getting heartburn - I shudder to think how much worse it would be if I wasn't taking the tablets as it's pretty uncomfortable even with them these last couple of days!

Mint choc chip ice cream. Also, has the advantage of not tasting like the devil's semen
