Pregnant again after miscarriage at 14 weeks...

Hi ladies just looking for some advice if anyone has any. I lost my first pregnancy at 14 weeks 9 weeks ago and just found out last week that I am pregnant again so I'm about 4-5 weeks and I feel so lucky. However because my loss was heading towards the late side I had the baby I lost tested and I won't get the results for a another few weeks and it is obviously playing on my mind whether it was a reoccurring problem. I basically went for a scan at 13 weeks and there was excess fluid around the baby and when I went back a few days later to have further checks the baby had sadly died. I was told it could have indicated some sort of chromosome problem. I was just wondering has anyone else lost a baby in similar circumstance then gone on to have a successful pregnancy. Thanks for any input xx

Hi.
Congratulations on your pregnancy :-) and so sorry to hear about your miscarriage.
Although I've had a miscarriage, it was an early loss so I've no experience in your situation I'm afraid.
There are lots of us on the posifrickintivity after miscarriage thread and it's been a god send for me.

Not similar but still late on. Went for my 12 week scan and no heartbeat. Had to wait a week to be rescanned in case I had my dates wrong (I knew I hadn't), but still nothing. By the time I had the evac I was 14 weeks. Just told myself my body was good at holding on to a pregnancy... I was lucky like you and was pregnant again within theinth and know have a 2 year asleep in the next room and pregnant with number 2.

A very close friend of mine carried and delivered a baby with chromosome problems (they knew anout it from about 25 weeks) when I had my first baby. She didn't survive but my friend now has a boy who just turned one and who is perfectly healthy.

I hope these stories help, although different to your situation. It can be very worrying when you're pregnant again. But just take one day at a time, every pregnancy is different and one sadly not working out doesn't necessarily mean the next wont either. Unfortunately it's a waiting game. The most you can do now is take care if yourself and try and alleviate your worries. You can always ask for an early scan at the EPU so you don't have to wait for your 12 week scan or until the test results come back.

Good luck. X

So sorry to hear of your loss. Excess fluid sounds like a one-off chromosome thing, it's often a sign of that. It is more likely to be a recurrent loss if it's your cervix or something that attacks the placenta - and these are very rare, less than 1% of women. Also even if you have something, it is highly unlikely to affect every pregnancy and/or is often treatable nowadays. E.g. I have a 'condition' but am at 35 weeks at the moment. But it is so tough and scary!

Congratulations on your new pregnancy. :) If you are worried and want a listening ear from women going through similar we have a thread here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/2140166-Shiny-and-new-posifrickintivity-thread-for-pregnancy-after-miscarriage?msgid=48787419#48787419

Thanks for replies! I'm having an early scan on Monday with my consultant. I'm still under a consultant as I haven't had any results for what happened to my last baby, I will probably get scans every 2 weeks until I'm 14 weeks which is nerve wracking but good that I'm getting extra care xx

Hi op congrats on your pregnancy Thanks

I lost twins at 12 weeks last year then got pg again about this time last year. Like you, I was elated but terrified of something going wrong. Could you pay for a private early scan for in a couple of weeks? That's what we did as didn't have nhs scan till 13 weeks. My little baby daughter is 17 weeks and snuffling next to me as we speak Smile

Hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy, there is a wealth of support on here x
