NT Scan/blood tests

Hi everyone,

I just wondered if the NT 12 week scan comes back as normal, is there a good chance the blood test comes back as low risk too?

Many thanks!

x

I had NT measurement of 1.8, but I'm 40+ so was still edgy about the overall result. After the blood test and Advanced maternal age calculation it came back as 1:5720 risk - nice and low, but I think we were unusually so. I have a feeling that a measurement under 3.5 or so is pretty likely to end in an overall low risk, but there are always outliers. Good luck all :)

Cherry if you have your maternity folder, the sonographer should have put a report from the scan in it - mine has the measurements she took and it shows NT=1.8mm

I don't want to worry you, but not necessarily. My NT was normal. But my HCG was wacky and I came back 1/100 on bloods (all was fine). Since then I have seen a few threads where people have had similar.

So be positive, but coming back high risk is still a possibility.

jessplussomeonenew · 10/08/2014 08:15

Similar to penguins, I had normal nuchal and hcg but very low Papp-A - risk based on scan alone would have been in the thousands, combined with the blood results it was 1/53. But Harmony test came back fine.Smile

Taura thanks I will check! Guess I just have to play the waiting game! x

Mine were high end of normal my blood tests results put risk as 1:15000

squizita · 10/08/2014 18:10

I'm 36. Scan was normal and bloods came back at 1/10000.

Mimsylou · 10/08/2014 18:53

Just to reassure you that over 95% of women come back low risk but to echo what penguin said the NT isn't the be all and end all. My NT was on the larger side at 2.8mm and I'm 33, but sonographer told me all looks fine & normal but then adjusted risk on bloods put me extremely high at 1 in 6. I had my bloods & scan on a Friday & they called me at 8.45am on the Monday morning so they are quick if there's a problem! However, like I said, that's the exception, not the norm so do try not to worry too much. x

Cherryblossom200 · 10/08/2014 20:45

Awww Mimsy I hope all works out ok for you, thanks for posting xx

I was high risk (1 in 34) this pregnancy so I did a LOT of reading. From what I read, people with wacky bloods but no physical signs seen on the scan are extremely unlikely to have a baby with Downs etc. They just have wacky blood!
