36 weeks, does this mean I'm probably going to have her early?!

Saw my midwife earlier and she said she could only just make out babies chin and neck and really struggled to feel anymore head. Baby is head down and very low mW has written in my notes that she's 1/5 engaged. Does this mean I'll almost certainly have her early or not really a particular sign of anything? If it makes a difference this is DC2 for me

No DS was engaged from 32 weeks and I was over due - all it really means is that they won't be moving from the head down position now that the head is engaged

PenguinsHatchedAnEgg · 06/08/2014 20:08

Means nothing sadly. I was 3/5th and went to +13.Smile

They can pop in and out of the pelvis constantly with your second child. If she is only 1/5 engaged that's not full engaged as she could still feel the remaining 4/5ths of the head. Don't panic!

MotherOfInsomniacToddlers · 06/08/2014 20:13

Not at all sadly

MrsBungle · 06/08/2014 20:14

No. I was 2/5 engaged at 32 weeks and has dd at plus 8 days. Ds didn't engage until just before he came out!

cogitosum · 06/08/2014 20:18

Nope! As above I was fully engaged at 34 weeks and ds was born 42+1

LottyLikesWindows · 06/08/2014 20:22

Another one who was engaged from 33 weeks! It's frustrating isn't it OP! Is this your first? My midwife told me that first babies often engage quite early ...

LottyLikesWindows · 06/08/2014 20:23

Ooops, sorry. It's your second. Must pay closer attention Blush

Yup, dd was fully engaged and fixed. For 8 weeks. Means bugger all.
