Implantation spotting?

Hi everyone,

Brand new here.

I'm currently on the microgynon contraceptive pill. Though I know it's not 100% effective. I'm next due on in around a week/just under. However, last night before bed I've been experiencing some strange spotting, VERY light pink when I wipe after using the toilet. I didn't think anything of it last night and it has been happening this morning, where I've also noticed I'm using the toilet a lot (not sure whether it's psychological) .. I've experienced some slight cramping also.
Now as I've done some of the dreaded googling and I've come across implantation bleeding/spotting/cramping. Does this sound similar to anyone else's experiences? I've read it usually happens a week before your expected period and that when I checked my ovulation calendar, today is the day it is most likely to happen - should it happen.
Not sure whether it's just my period creeping up on me a week early or whether there is the possibility I am pregnant.
Any advice/experiences are welcomed!
Thank you

Also wanna add I've felt awfully bloated, feel hungry so eat and then feel sick and leave half of it!

the best thing to do is wait until your period is due and get a home pregnancy test. Also, until then try not to worry (if that is possible at all) would it be a wanted pregnancy?

My implantation spotting was like a day or two after my period was due. It was also so small I could easily have missed it if I wasn't wearing a pad I case period came. I mean like a pin prick small, and there was nothing when i wiped. No other pregnancy symptoms at that stage as it's still too early. I would wait till your period is due then take a test.

I've been to the loo like four times in the past hour! It's starting to feel like I've got a UTI now! :-(
Still the occasional light pink when I wipe - sorry for too much information.
If I am pregnant, it wouldn't have been planned but would be a happy shock! :-)

  • I guess I will have to wait and see if this spotting comes to anything - other than that I guess it'll be a long week until my period is due for a test!

If taken properly (roughly same time every day, no tummy bugs or antibiotic use), OCPs including microgynon are pretty effective. However if you miss pillls or have stomach problems then it will not protect you as well.
In my successful pgs I have had IBs at 5-7 days before AF due, like a very light period with some cramping. But no other symptoms I recall at that stage.
Have you run two packets one after the other or something like that? I used to get breakthrough bleeds if I was slightly late with taking a pill if I had run two packets together for a holiday or similar, these were like a light period.
If it doesn't stop in a day or so (esp with the urinary frequency) I'd go to the GP for swabs and urine culture as it definitely could be a UTI. I hope you get the outcome you want - if you want to be pregnant I think it is time to have the conversation with your partner! Good luck.

I haven't run two packets through, I'm usually pretty good with my pill but did have to take 2 in 1 day on this packet (can't remember when) as I forgot one day. I'm usually really good and like clock work though!!

The light pink when I wiped only lasted a day and I have had nothing else since. Just gotta wait until next week and see if my period arrives :-)

You definitely CAN notice pregnancy symptoms this early. I have one child and have had three more pregnancies which have failed after a couple of months. Every time I had implantation bleeding as described, normally a couple of days before period was due. I have known I was pregnant every time after the first before doing a test due to implantation bleeding, being dizzy when standing up, cramps and just "feeling" pregnant. There is a lot to say for a woman's intuition with this I think.
