Had my 28 week MW appointment today. Last appointment was at 16 weeks and I had my 28wk booked in from then.

Made my way there today, got to the surgery about ten mins early. Was told that the Midwives no longer operate out of that surgery and they have linked to another surgery 15mins walk away. This is where the Midwives now work from and I "must have forgotten" - nope, sorry, it says on my notes Surgery A. No one told.me about Surgery B. They apologised.

I then walked to Surgery B, about 15mins walk, as I didnt have time to walk home for the car.

Got to Surgery B only to be told that the Midwife Surgery doesnt run on a Monday - its Weds and Thurs. And I didnt have an appointment in for today or either of those days.

Why the fuck didnt anyone ring me!?!? Ive not been seen since 16 weeks. I need Anti D and bloods and measuring. Im now booked for Thurs but am so cross.

Hormonal too as all I wanted to do was cry. DH and dd had come with me and dd was very excited to hear the heartbeat. I then had to walk 25 mins back up frigging hill in the heat.

To top it all off, I was on an early shift at work, swapped to a late to attend my appointment and the appointment didnt even happen. If id known in advance id have beenable to stay on earlies and would be at home right now eating my tea and playig with dd. instead im at fecking work til 11pm.

Cross.
Grrrrrrrrr.

Unfortunately I think doctors are slipping with things like this I have decided to go private for my care after three midwives not having a clue and one more interested in my marital status when said husband was sat next to me and asking me if he is the father (we walked out at that point).
Hopefully goes better for you next time maybe ring before hand to double check appointment?

What dreadful communication! If they were to make a change like that I would have expected a phone call or at least a letter to inform you of the changes and to give you a new appointment time. Lucky they had one available the same week! I think you ought to point out this lack of communication to them in a formal complaint so they think about it next time. Wonder how many others are in the same boat.

Why are you swapping work shifts? You are entitled to paid time off for appointments.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 04/08/2014 19:30

I know it just worked out easier. if I left for the appt id need to drive to work, then go to appt then return to work then go home. it wasnt the right time in the day for me to leave for the day

I see, don't blame you for being fuming. Do you have one to one midwifes in your area? They come to your house so you don't need to mess about going to clinics and you have the same midwife all the way through your pregnancy.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 04/08/2014 20:12

I have one to one MW care but she only comes out for Booking In. the rest I go to her.

Really, that's a bit rubbish unless it's your choice. In our area they come to your house up to 8pm at night so much easier that sitting in clinics especially with other dc.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 04/08/2014 20:20

Thatd be marvellous!
