Consultant f****d up our due date?!

Consultant told me my twins were due 01/05 next year. Which would mean I conceived on friday.
I can tell you know it was 2 months ago that myself and DH did the 'deed' and so it must have been 2 months ago.
We're on private health care, so I don't know what to do?! Sad

Can you explain more about what exactly has happened?
Has the consultant just written down the date wrong in your notes, or have you had a scan which dates the babies as being due on 01/05?
Was there any chance they were using the American way of writing dates so that 01/05 means 5th January or did they actually say 1st May?
What due date were you expecting based on your dates?

ShatnersBassoon · 04/08/2014 11:28

I think it's just a slip of the tongue/pen. Did you question it at the time?

ShitStickSugar · 04/08/2014 11:29

I am not sure exactly what is the problem?

GailLondon · 04/08/2014 11:29

A due date of 1st May cant be right as you wouldn't even be getting a positive pregnancy test yet, let alone knowing that it was twins!

MaybeIAmJustNotReasonable · 04/08/2014 11:29

Found out I was pregnant having missed 2 period. I have a stressful job and have irregular periods anyway, but was getting 'typical' symptoms.
had my last period around Mid-May, around 13-14 it started. had a scan a few days ago and was told I was expecting twins on 01/05. which would mean I conceived on Friday.
I was expecting around february/March time, consultant was rushed and printed out scans and scribbled down a date
he was rushed due to a girl having had a panic attack before hand and making him 15 minutes late

Gail that's exactly what i thought!
May just wait and see, just hope it isn't Jan as we have a Christmas holiday booked and wouldn't be able to fly at that time
Oh Lordy what have I gotten myself into?!

Just point it out at your next appointment and they'll correct it for you.

Picklepest · 04/08/2014 11:32

With twins I wouldn't worry. Never known a set go full term. ;)

ShatnersBassoon · 04/08/2014 11:32

You just need to call his office and ask that the date is checked. It can't be right, so no need to panic. It's obviously a mistake. It sounds like he's written a 5 instead of a 3.

MaybeIAmJustNotReasonable · 04/08/2014 11:35

Pickle- I went 3 weeks overdue with DD(15) before i went into labour Grin
So hope that I don't deliver too early

Shatners- I do hope that's right
Calling the local unit now, and then will phone him

Probably just a slip of the pen, as others say you wouldn't have had a positive never mind seeing twins. Point it out at next appointment or call to tell him about the mix up but wouldn't worry.

If you conceived 2 months ago that would leave you with an EDD of February/March but I've yet to meet anyone with twins who's gone past 38 weeks :)

MaybeIAmJustNotReasonable · 04/08/2014 12:26

Squtter- it's seeming that way
Booked in at local clinic for a scan next week to check it out, and get an EDD

He "scribbled* a date?

Are you sure it's not 1/3 he wrote down? 5 and 3 are easily mixed up in handwriting, and doctors' handwriting is notoriously indecipherable.

You know when you're due from your dates anyway, right?

TheFairyCaravan · 04/08/2014 12:35

I was going to say are you sure its not 01/03?

My consultant (not pg related) wrote "see pt in 4/52" but the appt clerk read it as 4/12 and sent me an appt for 4 months.

Doctors are known for their illegible handwriting! Wink

fairgroundsnack · 04/08/2014 12:35

If your LMP was 13 May then you would be due 17 February
I wouldn't be flying off on holiday at 30+ weeks with twins... you will need to have a fit to fly letter in any case.

MaybeIAmJustNotReasonable · 04/08/2014 12:37

No- thinking it may have just been a mistake
Have got onto insurance to see what I can do about the holiday, just worried about disappointing DD :(
Talking of DD still haven't told her yet Shock

Are you sure it's not 5 January next year? Or would that be too early?

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 04/08/2014 12:42

Twins often come early so I wouldn't be flying at 30+ weeks either.

And yes you'll need a fit to fly letter.

PotteringAlong · 04/08/2014 12:52

My sister had her twins at 36 weeks - whatever date they eventually give you I would mentally take off at least 5 weeks.

SoonToBeSix · 04/08/2014 12:57

Yes your twins will be early most hospitals induce or c section at 36 weeks ID twins and 37 /38 fraternal also over fifty percent will come earlier spontaneously so I would say you are " due" mid February but will have them some time in January.
