34 weeks and no appetite

Hi allGrin

I'm 34 weeks and have absolutely no appetite! I'm having a bowl of cereal in a morning, some fruit and crackers at lunchtime but after that I have to just force a few mouthfuls of something down as I know I have to eat. I've been like this for a couple of weeks now - is it normal? I have a midwife appt on Thursday is it worth mentioning it?

I was eating like a horse in the first 12 weeks, then went back to normal and now this.

Thanks!

I'd be interested to hear any response because I am at 30 weeks and feel the same. Xxx

I'm 38 weeks and have been feeling the same for a while now. Never really had a huge appetite throughout this whole pregnancy, it's been just the same as normal to be honest. Could be the baby getting bigger and squishing your stomach a bit. I read that your appetite can become huge in the last few weeks but I'm eating less than normal at the moment. Wouldn't worry about it, baby will always take what it needs from you regardless!

I've had trouble eating all pregnancy, nausea and sickness at the start and now at the end just an inability to eat much, digestion is bad and I feel sick a lot. Your stomach is of course squished to hell, acid reflux etc have made big meals, rich food or spicy foods a no! My midwife said that the baby will get nutrients from what you are eating, even if it's not much.

I had a dip in appetite around the same time, I'm now nearly 39 weeks and it's back with a vengeance!

Interesting discussion. I've lost my appetite too at 28ish weeks. Could happily have nothing but water all day! My husband cooks so I'll eat dinner if he is home, otherwise I just can't be bothered. Very odd for me!

Yeah my OH is always asking what I want for tea, but I don't fancy anything. Onus is on him to decide and I think he finds it a chore as I pick over it lol!

I've not been very interested in food apart from a few weeks around 18 - 24 ish, when I ate very sensibly, and loads of it. Beforehand I was trying to be very good about planning and eating 'good' food with a wide variety, and managed with some success, but actually wasn't ever that hungry for any of it.

At the moment I only eat to avoid constipation - so beans on toast for breakfast. But I'm not very hungry after that - could happily not eat all day, even though I know I need to.

Jelly has been good, ice lollies have been good, yoghurt has been good, carrots, cucumbers and hummous have been good, fruit like apples or berries have been good. Smallish things that feel quite 'clean' to eat. I've also been fancying dirty chocolate recently, which I guess is about not really eating enough calories.
