35 weeks pain right upper abdomen

I'm 35 weeks and have pain just under my right rib, it feels as if there should be a bruise there-but there isn't. I have had a headache for the last couple of days and have constant heartburn even though I'm on 2x ranitidine daily. Been waking up during the night either being sick or feeling very nauseous but again this I think is stomach acid. Basically I just don't feel well. Anyone else had anything similar?

I had type of pre-eclampsia called HELLP Syndrome that started off with rather similar symptoms.

Could you ring your midwifes to put your mind at rest?

FannyFifer · 03/08/2014 13:24

Those symptoms are possibly pre-eclampsia.

Please contact your midwife or phone maternity unit ASAP, like now.

oldsilver · 03/08/2014 13:25

ps - it all turned out fine in the end Smile

FannyFifer · 03/08/2014 13:26

I had a constantly foggy feeling, are you swollen?

I was swollen first time with PET but not second time.

Def get checked today.

Ninjabread · 03/08/2014 13:26

This could be HELLP a life threatening complication of pre eclampsia. Call your midwife or delivery suite immediately and speak to someone

oldsilver · 03/08/2014 13:31

I had the pain and sickness, it wasn't heartburn - it's a classic HELLP symptom I kept telling her I just didn't feel very well.

Mention ALL the symptoms - at a minimum you'll need your BP monitored today.

A month or so after I'd had DS I was visited by nearly all the MWs with students so I could describe to them the onset of the symptoms and how I'd felt as it's quite unusual compared to other p-e conditions.

FannyFifer · 03/08/2014 14:29

How did you feel old silver?

mumto3beauts · 03/08/2014 15:01

Well I am sat in delivery. Only a plus of protein and my by is 136/79 (usually 112/56) waiting for midwife to come see me but pain and headache still there despite numerous doses of paracetamol!

It was the fact that you felt so unwell, normally with all the pregnancy symptoms you have, it's just that, symptons. With this that, you just feel altogether rough. Light headed as well and airy fairy - it's your red blood cells exploding, not carrying the oxygen round properly.

Inept MW tried to tell me that all women get indigestion in the later stages. After I'd had DS and they had to monitor me in the delivery suite for 3 days after - just in case my bloodcount bottomed out again, she came in to do her shift and I felt the need to tell her "told you I felt ill".

Hospital moreorless told me they knew it was help due to the vomitting and pain, that would have been my liver struggling.

oldsilver · 03/08/2014 15:39

Apologies for the typos ie HELLP.

It was nearly 9 years ago, so the memories are a bit hazy now.

oldsilver · 03/08/2014 15:42

I didn't show any protein for the first 24 hours. My BP steadily crept upwards...it was the bloodcount dropping rapidly led to the EMCS.

FannyFifer · 03/08/2014 15:44

So glad you are being looked after, def not worth taking a chance.
Keep us posted. X

oldsilver · 03/08/2014 15:54

Absolutely what Fanny said Smile

Ninjabread · 03/08/2014 15:56

Pleased you are in best place. Good luck.

mumto3beauts · 03/08/2014 20:33

Finally I am home! Bloods were all ok, but have to see my midwife Wednesday to check bp and urine. Consultant thinks possible gallstones but to go straight back if symptoms or pain gets worse as I had pre eclampsia in my previous pregnancy. Have a consultant appointment in 2 weeks.
Thank you ladies for your support and advice it's much appreciated. Smile
