Is this 'false' labour?

After today's debacle, I had a nap when we got home and as soon as I lay down, I was hit by v painful contractions. I thought yes, this is it! But then I stood up and they disappeared... Have just tried laying down again and the same thing happened. Is this false labour? Slow labour? What??

Watching this thread as I'm getting the same thing, only when in bed, and I'm fed up.

Same as me, has happened the last 2 nights. Maybe our bodies only kick into gear when we relax... But then it doesn't last for long so it's frustrating. It's more like pelvis ache than proper contractions. The pain isn't regular timing either. I'm 5 days over due so am really ready for some pain now! (Hmmmm not too much though).

Mine's like bad period pain round my back and belly and a rock hard belly. I put it down to severe Braxtons. I get Braxtons all day but it only hurts when in bed.
