Hi
I was discussing what antinatal blood tests I had with a friend of mine today and I can't remember, I had one child in 2009 and one in 2012?

I've just had one lot at my booking appointment so far, but they checked my blood group, rheus type, iron levels, whether I was a carrier for sickle cell or thalasaemia (though think only some areas do this one routinely) whether I was immune to rubella, and also for HIV, hepatitis B and syphilis. Think that was all.

All of the above but beware I was tested for thalasimia which is not routine in my area (dorset) and they took the blood I signed the paper work but they never tested it, it was only after my routine normal bloods were a bit off that they sent me to hameatology turns out I do have a type of thalasimia, which has made this pregnancy high risk and after I have dd I need transfusions and plasma! If u dnt get the results please phone as I would v very poorly by now if I hadn't found out my results myself

As well as the normal ones I was tested for ferrro levels? Something to do with body's ability to store iron as I have bad anaemia.
