The I'm on antibiotics tale won't work as some of my friends are in the medical profession. I will only just be 7 weeks so wasn't planning on announcing to friends just yet but might have to if I don't come up with a decent excuse! Can't even say I'm driving as it's abroad!!

Saying you have a hangover from too much wine the night before is always quite a good one. I agree though that not saying anything at all and just drinking soft drinks works best.

No one noticed my not drinking at a wedding but then I often choose non-alcoholic drinks. The only thing that bothered me was when they served Pimms! Had a bit of DH's.

Such deviousness! I used to work in a pharmacy so I know all about metronidazole but know that would immediately rouse suspicion with my medic friends. I think the half filled wine glasses is probably my best option (and making sure I have a glass in hand for photos) for during the wedding and ordering nonalcoholic cocktails for the rest of the holiday. Would be fine if it was at home! Thanks for the sneaky advice, just hoping everything stays ok and morning sickness doesn't kick in for when I'm flying...

Just don't. Drunk people won't notice. I've done two Christmas parties pregnant and not a soul noticed even though I'm usually the one who starts on the shots

Also if anyone does work it out they will be someone who is close to you and who you would probably turn to for support if anything did go wrong (the reason we don't tell), which I am sure it won't.

What out with briefing hubby re swapping drinks though, mine tried to grab it from my hand in front of people which was very odd, I had to exclaim Get Off My Drink! Just a bit too much enthusiasm on his part.

Good luck and congratulations Grin
