Anyone else dread all scans?

Hi guys,

Just what it says above really. I've booked in for a private scan at 16 weeks tomorrow coz we didn't want to wait until 20 weeks for the next one. However, I'm now terrified of what I might see! I've not had a scan since 12+ 5....what if it's gone wrong in the meantime? :( Google has not helped here...there are so many stories of people going to scans after the 12 week one and getting bad news!

Am I crazy, or does anyone else get this?

Completely normal to be anxious. I was for all of mine. Easy to say but try not to worry AND STEP AWAY
FROM DR GOOGLE.

Pretty normal I think.
Scans make me anxious so I'm very happy I've only had to have the basic 12 and 20 week ones.
I think it's a bit easier once you're feeling regular movement, or have a bump.

Scans can be very scary. I'm 34 weeks, have one on Monday... still nervous.

Yeah I'm kind of wondering why I do it to myself. The one tomorrow is optional! I guess I'm trying to reassure myself, but v scared in case what I find out is not reassuring! And yeah I have no Movement, so that's prob partly why I'm scared. I wouldn't have a clue if all was ok or not...

I dreaded all of them (and I had seven) but every time, they were all lovely.

Totally normal, I have one next Friday and an dreading it! Got myself in a right state yesterday that something was wrong! No reason to think that, had scan 2 weeks ago at 10 weeks that measured perfectly with a strong heartbeat and it did put me at ease for a couple of days but back to stressing again!! X

Yes dreaded them and had loads due to a potential problem, that never materialised. Chances are all will be well. Good luck.

You wouldn't expect to have movement at 16 weeks though- sorry if my post implied otherwise... but later on in your pregnancy maybe it will be a bit easier.

Wee - yeah I know u can't feel movement at 16 weeks- I guess what I mean is that it makes it harder because I can't.

I guess this is common, but I really hate being so worried :( I guess it's knowing there is always someone who gets bad news...

I'm high risk so have been having fortnightly scans since 14 weeks. Nearly 22 weeks now and they'll continue right through. I'm terrified every time!

But at the same time they have become a psychological crutch. It's such a relief every time they confirm all is well. Even though the relief does only last a short while before anxieties creep back in.

Even though I hate that I can't just had a 'normal' pregnancy like many women do, I think I would struggle if they suddenly declare me low risk now with no more scans....would spend a fortune on private ones I'm sure!

I went to see the midwife today as wasn't feeling well. Was hoping she'd do a sweep (40+5) and she said that she's sending me for a scan tomorrow instead!!! Totally panicked me but all should be well hopefully, but yes I also feel very anxious now!

I'm having my 28w growth scan today. I'm quite frankly shitting myself!!! Even though my bump is growing and little miss is head banging away in there all day, I am petrified that they are going to say that she hasn't grown since 20 weeks. I've had a midwife app in between my scans and she said that I'm right on track, it still prays on my mind.

At the same time both DH and myself are looking forward to seeing our wee koala again.

IT's normal. Were you not having a midwife appointment at 16weeks? You can ask her to listen to the heartbeat, you know baby is all happy and well then without forking out on private scans :)

My midwife appt was at 14 weeks coz she was going on her holidays! I didn't realise u couldn't hear anything at 14 weeks when she booked me in fir this, otherwise I would have argued to have the appt when she got back from holiday, but she didn't tell me or offer this!

I've had the scan now and all is good. Thanks for the replies though- glad it's not just me, :)
