Nursing clothes

So, I'm overdue and looking to pass the time with some online shopping / getting more non-essential tasks ticked off.

Just wondered how much nursing clothes I'll need. I already have 3 bras, two sleep bras, two maternity dresses that double as nursing dresses, and two vest tops.

What else do you think I'll need? I'm thinking prob more tops (in case they all get covered in baby sick / milk). Will normal ones like the Seraphine ones that can be worn while pregnant just look huge post baby?

Also, is it worth buying another pair of maternity jeans? I was a size 6/8 pre pregnancy so know I won't fit into any of my normal clothes for another few months at least (put on 20kg already)!

Tops and vest combos I lived in them!

Normal sort of tops really and a vest sometimes two. Pull bottom vest down, un hook nursing bra pull top vest up and latch on. don´t think I really had any proper nursing tops.

Newname great to hear this... 99% of nursing/maternity out there is not my style AT ALL - the 2 vest solution sounds amazing. :)

Squizita That was the problem I had! Plus I just didn´t like the feel of a lot of nursing tops - I have huge boobs anyway and with engorgement they where like melons but a combination of tops works two.

So vest top with a tunic.
Vest top with a wrap top, v neck, you can switch which you pull up and down depending on what your wearing.

Plus all you need is cheap vests - I liked the long like ones saw some in Matalan the other day which would have been perfect and "normal" tops which gives so much more freedom

Go to Primark, buy a stack of vests in different colours, £1.50 each. Then layer with your normal clothes. I didn't buy any nursing clothes. Good bras and a few scarves were a much better investment

Thanks for sharing this. Going to just treat myself to some pretty tops from Oasis. Most proper nursing wear is ugly and ridiculously expensive!

I've bought two Jojo dresses with nipple holes under the wrap bit - they were kinda frump, but I needed that sort of clothes for work while pregnant.. other than those two though, I'm going to do the two top method. I've had several friends show me how to do it.

The main issue I'm going to have is finding breast feeding bras in the humungous size I expect I'll be (34GG normally), that have underwires. I just can't imagine no underwire.

Hey I just bought a bunch of 'cami vest tops' in Primark yesterday. Think they're meant to be dresses as they're a lot longer than normal tops and they have little buckles on the straps. £3 each. I'm 38 wks pregnant and normally a 10 but the size 14 fits me great just now. Planning to use them as above poster suggests for nursing too.

My local mothercare had a great sale on so I bought a nursing top for £3, but I'm not planning on getting much, just a few vest tops and as it'll be October, some loser fit jumpers.

As it's so fricking hot, I'm just wearing normal vest tops and yanking them down to feed. Have my boob out when home, when we're out I throw a huge cotton scarf over myself and DC2 for modesty. The two layer thing is great in cooler weather but too much right now!

Likewise I have a few shirt dresses so I can undo the buttons to whip out a boob, and a dress with wrap top too. You're better off spending your money on good nursing bras than pricey nursing clothes IMO.
