I've just been for my 12 week scan... Yup, we're having non-identical twins!!!!! OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!
I'm in shock! Totally overwhelmed, but bursting with the need to tell someone! DH is in shock too and has had to go back to work bless him. (I'm a teacher on school holidays). They couldn't do the nuchal measurement either. Just had to share x

Ah congratulations.
Out of interest what have your pregnancy symptoms been? I'm 8 weeks pg and my husband is convinced it's twins because I've got awful 24/7 nausea.

escorpion · 30/07/2014 16:50

congratulations!! I am a twin the one that ate all the nutrients and left my other poor twin tiny poor baby was in an incubator and was released just before Christmas. By the way you are going to have such fun with twins!

squizita · 30/07/2014 16:58

Dogsmom symptoms mean diddly squat unfortunately... because it's your reaction to the HCG - if you react anyway, you'll have more symptoms but equally you could have none. My mum for example did not realise she was pregnant- with twins- for almost 3 months, she even had spotting when she was due on.
I'm having a singleton and was utterly, utterly sick as a dog.

NinjaPanda34 · 30/07/2014 18:17

Hi, I've had no morning sickness - plenty of queasiness, but never been sick. Which is why you could've scraped me off the ceiling this morning! I had been told if it was a multiple, then the symptoms would be worse?! Hmmm. I am completely exhausted and could sleep for Scotland and I have a 24/7 horrible taste in my mouth and my heartburn is bad in the evening, but it's bearable. Oh and sore boobs. Oh my god. So sore. What I shouldn't have done is google images of full-term bumps... Fool! x

Congratulations!

My aunt had the largest twins to be born in Ireland in 1964 - 8 lbs and 8.5lb!!! They were her 4th and 5th kids and she had 3 more after them!

Congratulations !!! Flowers

CripesItsTheGasMan · 30/07/2014 19:50

Congratulations! Grin

My sil has non Identical twin girls and they're so gorgeous and are completely different to each other. SIL had a straightforward pregnancy and labour and even though she had a massive bump you wouldn't think she had now .

Best wishes to you and DH

Fanjango · 30/07/2014 19:57

Many congrats. My shock of the news of twins is a bit past, they are nine now Grin bump did get big but got to nearly 37 weeks without feeling too bad at all. No sickness, no horrid symptoms. It is possible. Enjoy he pregnancy, feeling the two of them move about in there is amazing, you even feel which one is moving once they get larger, it's fascinating!! The scans are fun too, my twin 1 (dd1) kicked twin 2 (ds2) in the head during into scan. Good luck.

Congratulations I've got 10 wk old id girls. You say your sonographer said they have separate sacs, that's good as momo twins are very complicated, however it'snot jjust sacs you need to know about it's how many placentas. You need 2 for non identical. I found out about our twins at the 12 wk scan I cried through all of it, we were told they were non identical as there was 2 sacs however I had a phone call a couple of wks later from the mws at the hospital booking me in for my next scan as they were actually id twins as only 1 placenta.

Oh and twins only run along the mother's side, can't remember what it's called but a male can't influence more eggs being released. Good luck x

Thanks for all the lovely messages. Particularly liking Quiverings suggestion of putting feet up and having cake :) x

just found out yesterday there is a possibility our twins are identical as both girls Smile

The multiple board has been useful for me xx

NinjaPanda34 · 30/07/2014 23:02

Congratulations! I have twin boys .... twins are great!

rockstars12 · 31/07/2014 11:16

Congratulations! I'm pregnant with identical twin boys. Sharing a placenta, so the more high risk type.
Apparently if they split early enough you can have identical In Own sacs with own placenta. Though apparently this is rarer.
Fraternal twins run in the mothers line only, its due to releasing more than one egg. With identical everyone has similar odds, apparently its random. Though on my mums side the females have produced identical and fraternal, so who knows.
It's exciting! Get saving, you'll needs lots of stuff, but shopping is fun! I was really shocked, but my husband less so, who knows why he had considered the possibility of twins. Enjoy every moment of it. X

S1eepflower · 31/07/2014 13:55

Oh I am sooo jealous, this would be my dream pregnancy, they only found one baby in my scan though lol! Good luck :D

goshhhhhh · 31/07/2014 13:58

Congratulations!
