FINE HAIR IN DISCHARGE?????

Hi. I'm very concerned that short while ago had 3 fine hairs in discharge.... looks like baby hair to me, but is that possible??? I'm 35wks approx and on second round of treatment for thrush with no improvements though, still having light green and watery discharge... sorry if tmi.
Please let me know if anyone has any ideas re the fine hair...

Could these be the hair that covers the body being shed. But that would mean waters leaking. Which from your post I would thought had been checked. Could it just be your own hair?

Could you ask for a scan to make sure that your waters aren't leaking?

It is very easy to check whether the leakage is amniotic fluid. Have you contacted your midwife?

If one of my patients reported green watery discharge I would have them in like a shot. (When I was a midwife that is - not working as one now).

Also - thrush doesn't cause green watery discharge.

Im afraid that green discharge would be worrying me. I'm not a medical professional but when I has green discharge with my first pg it was my waters, which incidentally should not be that colour.

Now someone with more experience than me may be able to reassure you but personally I'd be phoning up the maternity triage for advice.

My midwife always told me that green discharge was not good, could indicate group b strep! I think you need to be. Checked out immediately

This happened when my waters broke with DD2 (hair not green). I really hope you've been to midwife/labour ward by now and are ok x

Really appreciate every one of them. Bn a really hectic & stressful day as DS's asthma decided to give me a scare too... today he's on max dose inhaler to keep it controlled, and needs CONSTANT monitoring... his even with me now!

When I called midwife she said the green discharge is my thrush!!?! She didn't seem concerned at all and I got the impression she just didn't seem interested and spoke quite condescendingly. I developed very bad low back ache too... her response was to tell me to take 2 paracetamol!! She said I didn't sound like I was in labour as I didn't sound in pain... but I didn't say I was in fully fledged labour at all, had to tell her this more than once!!!

I've seen the consultant previously about this green discharge too and she didn't even blink.... I even asked her are you concerned about it at all (the green discharge), & she replied 'no' without even looking at me!

Btw how do they test for a leak? Is it an internal? As had a scare few wks ago and she examined me internally and said my waters are intact...? Couldn't there be a slow leak elsewhere?

Totally frustrated with the whole service at the mo...

Is there another midwife you can see or even a GP?

I'm really not sure about the hair sitch, but i had green, non smelly discharge in both pregnancies, and like you was concerned and spoke to just about any medical professional i met in my first pregnancy about it. None of them blinked an eye. I came to the conclusion after i had it again with my second that it must be the hormones etc but it certainly freaked me out. If it has an odour though, pursue help asap

Please get it checked out asap. I was told thrush, when infact my waters had been leaking for 5 days. My dd needed a week of iv antibiotics when she was born as a result.

Op, they can simply swab the vagina with special swabs (like a long cotton bud) which show if amniotic fluid is present. Not painful, hardly intrusive.

OP, if you ring the labour ward and tell them you have low back pain and green watery discharge, I am sure they will check you.

Hi op. I thought I was leaking in previous pregnancy. Went to maternity ward at hosp and they did internal and a scan to measure levels of fluid. Wasn't leaking was just excessive watery dc. Nice! Maybe try calling the ward at your hosp and explain you're feeling really anxious and please can some one please look at you even if just for your reassurance.

I agree it should be swabbed just to make sure it isn't amniotic fluid, I would go into the labour ward or the DAU.

Forget your midwife.
if you have concerns then phone labour ward and have them check you out.
Your midwife obviously isn't taking you very seriously x

Hi, sorry for delay again and many thanks for ur messages. Ok so for update... saw my community midwife instead who sent me straight to hospital... there was concern about waters leaking and I was having regular contractions, but thankfully all been looked at and it turns out I have a urine infection and they didn't have much to say about the fine hair tbh which still makes me wonder.... but I do feel a bit better as I guess I got some reassurance from a very helpful midwife... still need to call up though on Monday for some results...

Hope all is fine with your results, glad that you were seen.

If you were having regular contractions it sounds like everything is moving along now. Am sure you will soon meet your baby. How exciting!

Apparently the contractions are brought on by a urine infection I didn't know I had! I hope bubs hangs in at least a week more though... try and get to 37wks!
